When examining humanitarian NGOs, there are two clear divisions in how they feel resources are most effectively distributed and the best way to maximise assistance, either in terms of volume of work done or the impact on people’s lives. Classicist humanitarians believe that all assistance should and can be totally separate to political activity. Being deontological by nature, they regard it as their duty to use their resources to provide aid, especially to those who need it most (Weiss, 1999). On the other hand, political humanitarians believe that exploiting politics can improve the delivery of relief in war zones and other unstable areas and as consequentialists, focus on the greater good and maximising the benefits of assistance delivered
