In recent years, the proportion of women who are employed has risen, the fertility concept has changed and the rate of infertility has risen slightly, resulting in an increase of the number of people prefer adopting children (Marianne 1993). Because some adopted children are not orphans so the way that children are adopted effect their contacting with their biological parents. Thus, whether to adopt children openly is becoming an important issue. There is an argument that the adoption should be open. In this essay, I will explain my view in three parts. The openness of adoption may reduce the doubts of many children about their biological parents. If children have an overall understanding of their biological parents, then they will understand their foster parents more easily. As Hayes (2008) wrote “the growth of openness has not been accompanied by a rise in domestic adoption numbers, but it has contributed to broader efforts to liberalize family relationships in Korea”. Thus, it shows that open adoption helps foster parents build healthy family relationships with their children. On the contrary, Marianne believes that foster parents agree open adoption may be just because they want to have an adopted children and actually they might do not like open adoption (Marianne 1993). Nowadays, information sharing is becoming more and more common, the closure of adoptive relations could become much more difficult. The result of Etter’s four-year research related to the open adoption has shown that most of the foster parents are able to abide by the agreement and are satisfied with the open adoption (Etter 1993). And according to Gross’s study, many adoptive parents take a positive attitude towards adoption (Gross 1993). As a result, open adoption is good for children to build good relationships with foster parents. And, in practice, the open adoption may also make many foster parents
