Controversial Topics The Merriam-Webster Dictinary defines controversy as ¨a discussion marked especially by the expression of opposing views¨(¨Controversy¨).There are a many of controversies affecting Americans today. Some controversies that are more upsetting include bring back corporal punishment in schools and indoctrinating children. These type of coversations can tear familes apert, destroy friendships and cause rebellion, regardless of the topic everyone will have their own opinion and will always defend their stance. First, private prisons pay their employers $0.38 less than public prisons. They make $14,901 less in yearly salary then public prison employees (“Private Prison¨). Private prisons pay their employees less so they are less likely to work hard. Private prisons are hurting their employees by giving them such little pay. Second, in the article, "Private Prisons PC” it states that public prisons cost around $45 a day while private prisons cost around $50 a day. This is a lot compared to what they pay their employers (¨Private Prisons¨ ). Private prisons charge almost $10 more than normal prisons and still have worse conditions than a normal prison. These private prisons are making way more money for less work and still can not provide a decent living. Thirdly, private prison companies can charge inflated prices for basic necessities such as soap and underwear ¨(¨Private Prisons¨ ). Private prison companies can charge inflated prices for the basic needs so most can not even afford basic hygiene products. Private prisons companies can charge inflated prices which should not be allowed, or if it is the private prisons should give better living conditions. Private prisons should be banned in all countries, because it literally puts the prisoners in horrible conditions. Public prisons are already bad. Next, in 1990 when Pitbulls were banned in Winnipeg Canada, Rottweiler bites immediately increased. When the city changed the law in 2000 to be breed neutral, all dog bites decreased (¨Pitbulls¨). When these bans came into effect, studies showed that other dogs that were trained to fight began to bite more. In cities where the bans were ordered, studies have shown that bites have not gone down. Finally, the Pitbull ban was not effective when it was in place.
