There are many different types of teachers. Some of them are good, while some of them are not so good. Despite how good they may or may not be at teaching, they are all expected to provide a quality education to students, that will allow them to successfully pass, if not succeed, standardized tests. Often times, students do not do as well on tests as they are expected to. There are many different factors that contribute to their lack of success and the low test scores they receive. Even though each student should be held accountable for their own results, the question commonly asked is: “Who is really responsible for the low test scores?” This thought provoking question forces you to realize that teachers are to be blamed when students underperform on standardized tests. Typically, teachers are provided with curriculum that correlates to standardized tests, to ensure that they are teaching material that students will encounter. Unfortunately, they do not always follow the standards set in place. When teachers have rowdy classes, they give them “busy” work, to get everyone to behavior appropriately. Sometimes, teachers rush when teaching certain materials, which can hinder the understanding of students. When this happens, students are left to teach themselves, which can lead to even more confusion. Along with that, some teachers give rigorous tests, even though they teach simple concepts.
