The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the first and only time an atomic bomb was used. The bomb killed thousands of innocent Japanese civilians, and left few survivors. The Allies thought of using the bomb because it would instantly end the war, and it did, but at the cost of many innocent lives. The bomb was also used as a factor to demonstrate the power of the US, and was supposed to help push other countries out of several countries. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was unnecessary because it gave little benefit to the Allies and led to thousands of innocent lives lost.
In August of 1945, a drastic event happened in Japan that would leave a mark on Japan forever. The event was Japan had an atomic bomb dropped on two cities, by the United States. The bombings all happened in a four-day period. The first atomic bomb that was called "Little Boy" got dropped over Hiroshima, a city a Japan. "Little boy" was dropped on August 6th 1945.
On August 6,1945 Hiroshima and Nagasaki were attacked by atomic bombs that were dropped by the U.S Military. Over 200,000 people were killed. The United States used the bomb to end the war with Japan, which began in 1941 when Japan launched an unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor. Many people believe that dropping the atomic bombs was the right thing to do because if they did not use it, there would be four more years of fighting and hundreds of thousands more US soldiers would have died because the Japanese refused to surrender.
On August 6, 1945 the United States dropped an Atomic bomb called the Little Boy on Hiroshima in Japan. A few days later the united states dropped another atomic bomb called the Fat man on the city of Nagasaki. The dropping of an atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki ended the wars quickly, as Japan saw the devastating effects it had on their people and country. The decision to drop the bomb was a very hard one to agree on but changed lives for others. There are many pros and cons of the atomic bombs.

The president and the Allied powers gave further warning about the bomb and even issued a final compromise, Japan still didn’t do anything and refused to cooperate, which forced the US to drop the atomic bomb on Japan.
On August 6, 1945, the course of world history was permanently altered when the first ever atomic bomb to be used in warfare was dropped. Over five years into World War II, the United States made the decision to use atomic bombs in their fight against Japan in an attempt to get them to surrender. The first atomic bomb, made of uranium 235 and nicknamed “Little Boy”, was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6, 1945. This attack seemed to have no effect on Japan’s willingness to surrender. So, three days later, the United States dropped another atomic bomb, this one made of plutonium 239 and titled “Fat Man”, on Nagasaki, Japan.
Seventy-two years after we dropped the first one, the atomic bomb and the choice to drop two of them on Japan is still debated today. Was it a just decision? Could it have been avoided? Was the decision rushed? Was the dropping of the bombs necessary?
Theodore Roosevelt once said, “I believe the more you know about our past, the better you are prepared for the future.” Never has this quote been more relevant than in the debate of the questionable decision made by President Truman to drop the Atomic bomb on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. For years this decision has been debated, backed by insurmountable amounts of evidence on both sides of the argument. Was there another way to break the will of the Japanese? Was there any way to avoid death and destruction?
Three days later, a plutonium device known as “Fat Man” was dropped in Nagasaki. These bombs caused a massive death toll in both of the cities directly and indirectly, estimating to be around 3.17 million, instantly and for years to come. The damage caused by these atomic bomb droppings are extreme and immoral, however, considering the circumstances and events that were taking place during the second world war, the U.S. made the right decision - the lesser of two evils. The atomic bombs were a new technology of mass destruction.

I believe the use of the bomb was not justifiable by the USA because of the innocent lives killed. For example, the first atomic bomb dropped on Japan was codenamed “Little Boy”. Historians estimate that between 70,000 to 80,000 people were killed instantly by the bomb. The rate of number shown of total deaths show that many people were unnecessarily killed.
President Truman not have dropped the atomic bomb on Japan, as it is unnessesary, had devistating consiquences, and violated international law. On the one hand, I believe that demonstrating the devastating power of the new weapon could force Japan's surrender and bring the war to an end, saving many American lives. However, I also worry that using the bomb could lead to an arms race and a new era of nuclear proliferation. Firstly, droppping thr atomic bomb was unnecessary since Japan was already about to surrender.
Money isn’t the only flaw of nuclear weapons, but nuclear weapons destroy lives and homes. The two cities in Japan that have been hit with atomic bombs are Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The bombings resulted in the deaths of about 200,000 civilians and military personnel from injuries sustained from the explosions. To this day, there is still controversy over whether or not the bombing was needed. One could easily state, that dropping an atomic bomb twice killed more innocent lives that were needed to perish.
The dropping of the atomic bombs on World War II on the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a very important part of World War II. The atomic bomb ended the war between America and Japan. This was just one of the important events during the battle in World War II. The Battle at Pearl Harbor, where the Japanese attacked U.S. soil was also why the americans bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Some believe that the United States was correct in dropping these bombs on Japan because of the attack on Pearl Harbor while others believe that it was very wrong to dropped the bomb.
