The Kosher diet has been looked down upon for many years because it has seemed to be too strict. In actuality Kosher laws provides foods that are better for human consumption and more conscientious of animals. Jewish law prohibits causing any pain towards animals, that’s why in order for a food to be considered Kosher it has to have been slaughtered by the Jewish butcher, known as the Schochet. Schochets are trained to make the animals go unconscious and death becomes almost instantaneous to avoid causing the animal pain. Not only does Kosher food have to be slaughtered by the Schochet but the Jewish only eat certain meats. They eat animals with split hooves who eat grass because they are said to be more clean.
