In order to be keeping all things kosher, it is necessary to keep all dairy and meat foods completely separate. If you would ask a person to describe what kosher food is, they might not know what you’re talking about unless it’s their religion. Kosher is a Hebrew word that means “fit” or “proper” when used in relation to food products. The laws relating to kosher foods are intricate and detailed, they are written in the “Torah” (the bible). It will take years for you to master making foods kosher but, you will understand the basics easily.
Misconceptions of kosher foods, there are plenty that people think but it is really not the truth about the food being kosher. Jewish ritual slaughter is known as “shechita” is widely recognized as the most humane method of slaughter. There are many laws to “shechita”. Once meat has been properly slaughtered, it must undergo a process known as kashering. Kashering entails in soaking, salting and broiling the meat. The kashering process must be completed in the first 72 hours after slaughtering.
The Torah prohibits eating dairy and meats together. This separation doesn’t just include the dairy and the meat it includes the utensils, plates and flatware, dishwashers, dishpans and sponges.
