The treaty would be a legally binding contract that requires each signing nation to allocate no less than 2 percent of their nation’s GDP to develop programs for the investigation, discovery, and elimination of changes to the climate. Each nation could develop substantial programs with their 2 percent allocations. Such an allocation for the US should hopefully force legislators to develop programs to reduce climate change. If I were able to move beyond this action, I would pass a law making it illegal to pollute the
The Agreement will not become binding on its member states until 55 parties who produce over 55% of the world 's greenhouse gas have ratified the
Treaty 6 was signed on August 23,1876 at Fort Carlton and less than a month later on September 9, 1876 in Fort Pitt. Some Chief’s had expressed concern regarding being able to sustain this new way of life. They did not want to potentially lose touch with their way of living and the resources their lands possessed. The First Nations people had requested that the government aide their people with agricultural assistance, as well as help during times of famine, and pestilence. The Canadian Government was also asked if they could assist them with modern medicines.
The Oka affair turned many heads in Canada, and the world. There were two sides, the Oka, and the Canadian government. Both sides thought they were in the right, but who was. This essay will talk about the rights and wrongs of each side. I have researched this topic from many point’s of view.
The North American Free Trade Agreement, otherwise known as NAFTA, is an international trade agreement between Canada, Mexico, and the United States, designed to remove tariff barriers between all three nations. Signed in the January of 1994 with final implications made in 2008. This has created substantial economic growth for Canada and its other two counterparts. NAFTA has increased trade for the Canadians, and as a result has created lots of jobs for Canada. Overall, NAFTA has been extremely beneficial for Canada since it was established in 1994.
Australia’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions represents a substantial increase in its commitment to curb climate change. Australia has engaged in a series of multilateral, plurilateral and regional climate change with key countries. It also holds continuous climate change discussions at the ministerial level with crucial economic and trade partners. Australia also collaborates with other countries to share knowledge and information, as well as come up with best practice approaches to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change is a global problem that results from human-caused emissions of greenhouse gases that cause the atmosphere to warm at an extraordinary rate.
Looking at the international sphere, there have been many conferences, conventions and treaties signed that have had seemingly little effect. The Kyoto Protocol, for example, was not ratified by the United States, because President Bush argued that it was unfair to exclude China and India, the countries with the largest populations. The influence that American opinion has on Canadian environmental policy is also worth looking into. During the recent election campaign, Justin Trudeau and his Liberal party made many promises for new environmental policies, and have won with a majority government. Already, prime minister-designate Trudeau has committed to attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place in Paris this November.
A Controversial Debate: The Canadian Equalization Program As part of the Canadian Constitution in 1982, the equalization program was one of the prominent changes that was ingrained into this constitution that aimed to bring national unity among all Canadian provinces. Like many different government-mandated ideas, the equalization program was developed to help certain “poorer” provinces. More specifically, those unable to meet the national average due to economic discrepancies (Department of Finance Canada, 2023). However, unlike many other government-funded programs, this specific initiative raises concerns as to whether or not there is fairness of contribution between the different provinces.
In 1871, Canada’s first post-confederation treaty was signed in Fort Garry, Manitoba. This treaty set the tone for future treaties between the Crown and the First Nations. Although the treaties were written documents signed by both parties, they held vastly different understandings for the Crown and the First Nation people. The First Nation people’s understanding of what these treaties meant was different from what the Crown had intended.

Today we celebrate the feast day of Saint Jane Antide Thouret, a young girl who was born November 27, 1765 in France. Her upbringing consisted of her obligation to help her father take care of the family after the death of her mother. Jane joined the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul and was later forcibly removed due to the French Revolution despite her fierce opposition. Upon her return home, Jane took up charity acts and corporal works that included tending to the unhealthy and uneducated.
On January 1st of 2018, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un made a speech that sent a gesture of peace toward the world society. Just after that, the Korean Skating Union(KSU), with the strong support of the Korean government, planned to make a unified Korean female hockey team for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games. As soon as they announced this execution to the world, they faced a problem. It turned out that a few members of the original South Korean hockey team couldn’t play. Most of the South Korean citizens this policy was ridiculous, because they had not only been deceived by North Korea bunch of times, but also they thought the efforts made by the players during the four-year training was way important than any political means.
Before this policy came into effects there was a meeting held by the United States Environmental Protection Agency which is abbreviated as (U.S. EPA) on January 26, 1989, to recommended a need for a change relating to the guidelines of pollution policy to deal with prevention rather than control. The past policy was enforced by EPA during the last 18 years in which the environmental quality was ample during the phasing process of the programs implemented , but at the same time there was a limit of how improvement can be done under the jurisdiction of each programs (Bishop, 2004) & (Higgins, 1995). During this time the EPA came up with a conclusion for this problem
.5 MAASTRICHT TREATY The Maastricht Treaty, marked in 1992 and authoritatively known as the Treaty on European Union (TEU), presented a few imperative increments and alterations to the Treaty of Rome and flagged a progress in European combination rose to just by the 1986 Single European Act. Its focal elements were the consolidation of EMU into the Treaty of Rome and the foundation of the European Union by the expansion of two new fields of approach co-operation: the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and Justice and Home Affairs (JHA). These new zones were figured as intergovernmental commitments, instead of obligations of the Community 's supranational affiliations, a game-plan which was to a confined degree balanced in this way in the 1997 Treaty of Amsterdam, where the Community was given to a more prominent degree a section in giving methodology rules and certain parts of JHA were traded to go under the expertise of the Commission and the Court of Justice.
Since its construction in 1977, the Trans Alaska Pipeline has transported almost 17 billion barrels of oil, and currently transports about 527,323 barrels a day. It celebrated its 40th Anniversary last year, and, even after all this time, is still facing controversy. The pipeline is highly debated as economically inclined citizens of Alaska are clashing with more environmental types. The Trans Alaska Pipeline Authorization Act, signed by President Nixon in 1973, protected the pipeline by banning all legal challenges against the construction of the pipeline. However, this law did not stop the critics of the pipeline from speaking out.
