Do you stop and think which bathroom to use at a restaurant? Do you have to question if you will get judged by which bathroom you use? About 1.4 million adults in the US are identified as transgender. That is 1.4 million people that share the same fear when entering a public bathroom. Transgender people are people who believe that they are meant to be a different gender than the one that they were born to be. A transgender woman living today would have been born a male. A transgender man living today would have been born a female. Some transgender people do not categorize themself into a gender and sometimes rather be referred to as both female and male. In 1980, the departments were split up into two different agencies- the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education. The Education Amendment was given Title IX.
