Strive for Gender Neutral Bathrooms The recent hot debate in our society focuses on the new controversial policy for public bathrooms to be identified as gender neutral. People who identify as a gender other than their biological sex are allowed to use the bathroom based on how they identify themselves. Elizabeth Vliet, is a current physician, has acquired specialized training from Johns Hopkins Sexual Medicine Consultation team, and provides her stance about the gender neutral bathroom policy will promote the increase of danger, especially for women. Vliet has treated numerous patients over the years regarding sex and gender issues.
This is helpful to her audience who may not already know the exact definitions. Rogers further includes logos with the statement “by suggesting that gender doesn’t exist and that you are only the sex you were assigned at birth, your argument is that transgender people don’t exist.” (Rogers,par.16). Understanding that gender and sex are not the same, and that they are able to exist at the same time, will enlighten the audience to understand the deserved rights of transgender individuals. It brings up the complication that if someone is not Trans and feels uncomfortable in their own restroom their discomfort is to be ignored. The biggest problem with this is that “If any of this makes a child uncomfortable, the administration's response is "too bad." According to the letter, a transgender student's discomfort must always be accommodated, but if another student feels similar discomfort, those concerns must always be ignored because the administration has pre-emptively deemed all "others' discomfort" unjustified. When a young female says she feels uncomfortable or even unsafe sharing bathrooms and locker rooms with males, she isn't being discriminatory, and her complaints shouldn't be dismissed as veiled bigotry by the same Education Department that has preached to schools the importance of creating environments where students feel secure. ”(Pruitt)
Walking through the hallways at school you have the opportunity to see all different kinds of diversity. People of all different races, genders, and religions surround you everyday. Being a part of the community and being a good citizen means including and accepting the people around you. And not treating them any differently than you would want to be treated yourself. Loretta Lynch’s speech, “Address Announcing Complaint Against North Carolina et al re Transgender Law” uses pathos and ethos to advocate for the transgender community to allow them to use the gendered bathroom they are comfortable in.

We believe these areas are the Panhandle, North Texas Metroplex, and West Texas. These three areas have consistently voted Republican in the past and with Sara’s campaign messages we believe they will vote in our favor. We will express our desire to fight for the rights of schools regarding transgender association. Which we believe is a hot topic for many people in these areas. We will purpose legislature that will keep publically funded schools from allowing transgender children to enter the opposite sex’s bathroom/locker rooms.
This past October an intersex U.S. Navy veteran, Dana Zzyym, gained national attention after they were denied a passport. Zzyym identifies as neither male nor female, so they were denied the right to a passport after refusing to select a gender box on the application. After the denial Zzyym filed a federal discrimination lawsuit on the grounds that it is a constitutional violation to force an intersex person to select a gender box. Their argument is that gender, or lack of thereof, has nothing to do with travel, so why should it restrict or force people to declare a gender marker they do not identify as. Zzyym’s case finally brings to light how significant two little boxes can truly be, especially for those who live their lives outside

An important and impactful U.S. document, known as the Declaration of Independence states “ …that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people are like ordinary U.S. citizens and deserve the same freedoms. As of now, discrimination of a certain race being higher than another, is not the only problem. LGBT people around the U.S. are being harassed, discriminated, and freedoms and rights are being taken away. A person’s sexual orientation can force them to not eat at a particular restaurant, adopt a child, or even buy a simple wedding cake.
Those service members that heed their training and have the mental flexibility will help build the military services of the future.
