The colonies were tired of too much taxation. They were tired of getting bossed around and paying too much just for a cup of tea. They finally decided to venture to the “new world” and fought for their freedom. The colonies said they would be an independent and self governed colony, not tax their colonists too much and be free finally from
Land of the free and home of the brave. America is a country that is known for its freedom worldwide. Many abandoned their own country in order to try and live a perfect life in America, where they will not be discriminated against no matter what nationality, sex or religion an individual is. America was not always this promising to minorities mid 1800’s. America had huge faults such as slavery which later was one of the reasons the north and south separated and went to war with each other.
When immigrants come to America, they either come because of a “push” or a “pull.” During the Gilded Age, most them came because of “pull factors.” Pull factors are factors that draw someone to something; the immigrants were drawn to America because of our booming economy. What many immigrants did not know, was that below the rich and booming economy was immense poverty and lack of jobs to working class citizens. They see people living the “American Dream” from a far, but when they finally come to America, they end up in the same situation that most of the other immigrants did; living in poverty.
Many people come to America to chase and experience the “American Dream” and also live out their life to the fullest; which they could not have had if they would have lived in other countries from around the world; as they don't have equal rights like
While Conservatives are those who abhor change, and want to return the United States to a time that they feel is ideal. This time seems to be debated, with many believing that the 1950’s was the ideal time that society should be returning to. While others believe, it is the 1980’s during the Reagan Era that was the ideal time for the American people. Liberals on the other hand, do not want to return the country back to a “better time”. They want the country to progress and change in a positive manner that includes the protection of rights and freedoms of everyone living within the United States.
The American countries were built out of the countries that conquered it and rebuilt over the constitution that they started. As the other countries expanded to the west, the west became a country itself and as a country, a country wants to expand. As the British, Spanish, and French empires expanded they also lost the lands, conveying the fact that the U.S. expanded slowly and made sure that none of the areas that they conquered would declare war over them for their safety and own laws. When the U.S. expanded they wanted to be sure that history doesn't repeat itself against themselves as they did. I argue that the American expansion was doing whatever a country should do, expand and upgrade, improve the culture, religion, and technology.
Since the settlement of colonial American and the migration of individuals from different ethnicities and backgrounds, the United States of America has been as a melting pot. After the immigration of former Europeans, to colonial Americans, citizens felt displaced with the lack of national identity from 1810 to 1840. Politically, the United States lacked a problem of representation within their government. As former members of Great Britain, Americans were only aware of what they did not want, a monarchy, which led to their dismissal. Voting, Americans could not justify a system that allowed everyone to feel satisfied with.
As America became a great power, it has continued its legacy of territorial expansionism through neo-imperialist policies. Aside from acquiring land and expanding American territory, the United States has established policies that have allowed direct and often indirect military and political control, economic exploitation, and the introduction of American ideals. The U.S. has justified this form of colonialism by claiming that it is for mutual economic pursuits, the spreading of democracy, and the establishment of stable governments in developing countries. Despite America’s noble causes, American imperialism has caused many repercussions. The United States should cease to be an imperialist power as it is economically damaging to countries under its rule, costly to America, violates the fundamental American principle of self-governance, and exacerbates social and political situations in countries America has tampered with.
America claims to have free opportunity, but to immigrants, there tends to be none. Illegal immigrants aren’t treated well by people in the government and are forced into detention centers or jails. Jose Antonio Vargas is a Filipino writer and immigrant activist who suffered the same experience as any other illegal immigrant just to find a better opportunity in America. He states in the article “What America Looks Like From A Jail In South Texas”, “This is a country that prides itself as one founded and built by immigrants, but also one whose laws and policies have historically been anti-immigrant.” This statement itself brings out how much immigrants helped out America, and yet America still doesn’t accept the fact that immigrants were the ones who shaped our society.
Roosevelt is states “This nation has placed its destiny in the hands and heads and hearts of its millions of free men and women, and its faith in freedom under the guidance of God. Freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere.” The main reason people come to the Unites States is because they want an overall better life and want to full-fill their niche in life. We each have the freedom to go for opportunities that you want to achieve. This country is based on everyone 's perspective.
Most immigrants who came to the U.S had high expectations that they would find wealth but once they arrived they realized their expectations weren’t what they expected. Although, they were disappointed in not finding wealth the conditions in which the U.S was in by the late 1800s were still a lot better than the places they all had left behind to come. The majority of the immigration population anticipation was to find profitable jobs and opportunities. When the large numbers of immigration were migrating to the U.S, it was during the “Gilded Age”, which was the prime time for the country’s expansion of industrialization. Immigrants are the pioneer of work in the United States Because they will never say no to work, they are a hard worker. Immigrants are located all around the unites states. Most of the Cuba people lives in Miami, the Colombian people are located New York in not event it this is a reason why people work on construction industries also in chemical plan doing hard work, om the hotels the housekeepers are most of the time Spanish people my people. I don’t understand why something people judge Spanish people. Living in a potent economic country, immigrants like us have found more chances of employment from low skilled level to professional level with increased salary. We can get better pay compared to what we can get in our country. The dollar value is also much higher and more stable than many other countries’ currency which gives us a chance to support relatives still residing back in our native land. Finally, we come to the United States because we have our families already residing here and we desire to be reunited with them.
Immigration and The American Dream Immigrants from the mid 19th century and early 20th century consisted of mainly Southern and Eastern Europe, Asia, and elsewhere. Immigrants motivations, experiences, and impacts shaped what an immigrant had to go through being a different person from another country. Although Americans dislike foreigners who came to the United States, immigrants had a role in political, economic, cultural, and social aspects of immigrants because of their motivations, experiences, and impacts in America. New Immigrants did not have it easy and went through obstacles natives, political figures, bosses and others had thrown at them.
It is part of human nature to strive to go further, achieve more and become a better person. Many people nowadays decide to leave their country in search for a better life in order to provide positive changes for their future, and that is the main reason as to why people migrate. Reasons for immigration can include lack of educational opportunities, the standard of living is not being high enough, or the low value of wages. Immigration has become a major part of life in the 20th century, and many people see America as the land of freedom, countless opportunities and thus they choose to migrate to the United States whether as naturalized citizens, legal permanent residents, refugees, international students, or even undocumented immigrants.
