There are many ironies that still exist in today’s U. S. military. As a member of the U.S. for the past twenty-one years I have been preview to different changes and issues that have been target to people of color. Blacks in the military are still seen as having lower socioeconomic status and prone to more punitive relationships with the criminal justice system weather inside the base or in the civilian environment. People of color in today’s military have less likelihood of achieving high officer ranking positions or being on high target leadership positions. As noted in our textbook, “today, Blacks fare better in the military, and the United States has 2.3 million Black veterans, more than any other minority group.

Is war really a battle fought between two nations or more? The oxford definition of war is a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state. In relation to war, racial profiling can be seen as an undeclared war. An undeclared war is a term used for disagreement fought without an official declaration. The undeclared war between male minorities and police forces is a constant issue that is being surpassed in our society.
Who is the target? I hate when people complain about racial profiling in the police force. African Americans are not the only race that has conflict with the police. I know because I have been in a situation where I could have been easily racial profiled but I was not. About four weeks ago I was in a store and I heard the manager complaining to a white policeman that a man in a red hoodie was stealing.
As a young black male in 2017, our society has me racially profiled. Anytime they see a young black male like myself, eyebrows raise. Society does not view us as equals, they view us as a minority even though we are a majority. We are viewed as the ground the walk on. They think we will never amount to anything.
Although, most witnesses are reluctant to stand up and testify against a prosecutor in any case, it is the fear of one’s safety and witness intimidation which is the reason many are hesitant to take action. An individual witness a violent crime in the neighborhood, and is able to identify the perpetrator, he should contact the authorities and testify against the criminal. Whenever someone is a witness to a crime, one’s should feel guilty if it is not reported. The witness of any crime should have integrity and do what is right and not fear what may happen because their rights are protected by the law. There are many other people that are being racial profiled and discriminated on such as Arabs, and Muslims. “There is a basic assumption underlying racial profiling in the counterterrorism context, predominantly at airports and border crossings, is most likely to be committed by members of a particular racial, ethnic or religious group (in this context, Arabs and Muslims), and that members of that group are, in general, more likely than non-members to be involved in that type of criminal activity.” (civil rights) Like all the other assumptions that are being made these too are false. Authorities cannot go around racial profiling and discriminate on people just because of their color. This too is wrong and it needs to be stopped.
Policies for specific states can vary. Kentucky has a policy against Racial Profiling. Their policy states that no state law enforcement agency or official shall stop, detain, or search any person when such action is solely motivated by consideration of race, color, or ethnicity, and the action would constitute a violation of the civil rights of the person (Kentucky General Assembly, 2010). They also gave the local law enforcement agencies a chance to modify the policy and get it approved.
One of the greatest challenges law enforcement are facing is providing effective policing for minority communities. Some factors that prevent minorities from gaining access to justice or being taken advantage of certain criminal justice services are language barriers, racial stereotyping, and cultural differences. Since the 30 's and 40 's, and even during the 60 's, civil rights activists damaged the police-minority relations in the United States, believing that police only interest are protecting white communities. A big explanation of why there 's a poor police-minority relations in the United States is racism on the part of the individual officers. Many minorities in the United States have continued to complain about being treated more harshly than whites and the Department of Justice believes that racial profiling and police discrimination will continue to be a big problem.
I see a few different reasons why racial profiling still exists. Not that I think that it is right but I come from a town where there are literally a handful of African Americans at a time. And for a long time they would only stay a few weeks before they were harassed out of town. Law enforcement would keep an eye on them and if they seemed to be causing trouble, it never failed that they would pack up and head out before a few weeks had gone by.
