Entertainment in the 1920’s was a very complex thing and time. Not only did they have a new age of technology in for that time period, but they also had new kinds of entertainment that hadn't existed before. The radio had been created, along with the ‘talking’ picture. There were many things created and found in the 1920’s that we very much still use to this day in mass productions. Spectator sports were created, and athleticism was a serious point of entertainment.
Television was first invented in 1925 by John Logie Baird. Then in 1923, a mechanical television system called radiovision was introduced by Charles Jenkins and it could transmit the earliest moving silhouette images. It is undeniable to say that television became one of the most essential inventions that shaped America throughout 1920s. Up to now, it has enhanced the electronic industry and advanced in technology of the USA. In 1927, Herbert Hoover was the very first U.S. President to appear on television.
Entertainment in the 1920s was new and different than before as many different societal and technological differences influenced the differences in entertainment. During this time people began driving cars, listening to the radio, and watching television. With citizens listening to the radio, it caused a contemporaneous rise of the radio. The radio was used for many different things at this time, but this is only one example of how entertainment has changed. Entertainment in the 1920s was significantly impacted by changes in technology, speakeasies and musicians, women's societal roles, and nightclubs.
The 1920's was the decade that left a mark on the modern music era because of things like Broadway, women gaining their independence, and our country’s wealth during 1920's was definitely “roaring”. Broadway was one of the biggest uprising in the 1920s,
Paul Whiteman, a "jazz-king" said that Jazz was "a genuine musical force.4 " The 1920s were also Broadway's prime years. There were over 50 musicals opening in just one season. People who went to see the musicals on Broadway paid up to $3.50 a seat. Broadway advertized their musicals and the ads lit up the streets of New York at night.
Forms of entertainment prevalent today, including movies and musicals, are the same forms of entertainment Americans in the early decades of the twentieth century. It wasn’t uncommon for those in the 1920s to use extra income to visit a movie theater, or those in the 1930s to gather to watch a performance in their town to provide a sense of relief from daily hardship. Across these years, there were ample reasons, both good and bad, to absorb multiple forms of entertainment, but it all served a similar purpose: to provide a good time for the audience. Flapper: “The woman of the 1920’s boldly asserted her right to dance, drink, smoke, and to work. Her own property, to live free of strictures that governed her mother's generation. Since the beginning of time society has changed drastically, with some years seeming to differ more than others. Although three time periods that seem to stand out to me are the 1920’s era, 1980’s, and 21st century. All three time periods the United states have grown and made our nation what it is today.
During this time, many of the actors became unemployed and so they ran off to Hollywood to pursue their acting careers in film. Because of the lack of business many theaters were forced to close their doors (“History of Theater on Broadway”). The Roaring Twenties also had a large impact on Broadway. The music in during the Roaring Twenties took the focus away from the plot of the show and moved it to the individual cast members themselves. The motion pictures also began to have sound and music during this time period so this caused a loss of interest in the Broadway productions (“The History of Broadway Theatre”).

The Renaissance brought one of the most famous theatres, The Globe Theatre, and one of the biggest contributors to theatre, William Shakespeare. Before cellphones and social media, bullying used to be pushing each other around on the playground. Since the evolution of the internet, cell phones, and social media, the amount of bullying has increased drastically. Kids are ganging up on others posting material on social media for everyone to see. It’s bad enough that people are being bullied, but bullying someone with a mental illness can cause them to commit suicide. Losing a life to bullying is incredibly tragic, and action needs to be taken to stop it.
