In 610 CE A man named Muhammad was outside of a cave meditating and soon began hearing voices. As he listened he heard them say “Give birth to a religion called Islam.” Islam began to spread faster than any other religion. Other religions disagreed with this because they didn’t want to believe that Islam was bigger and better than their religion. After about 140 years, many followers of Islam had created an empire that ruled the Middle East and spread across to North Africa to Europe.
Military conquest was a primary reason why Islam spread so quickly. As demonstrated in the “The Spread of Islam” map from Document C, the reader can clearly see that everywhere the Islamic World spread, a military campaign occured. A military campaign means plans for war or battle. Although it is possible, it is unlikely that the Islamic teachings just spread. Most likely, the teachings spread through a forced movement, or a military conquest.
Islam spread within a span of 100 years. In 610, Muhammad made a visit to a cave on Mount Hira to pray. This experience changed his life and he realized that Allah was the one true god. After receiving Allah's words for two years, Muhammad decided it was time to talk. Soon Muhammad's teachings, called Islam, reached Europe, North Africa, and Asia.
There are five noteworthy religions throughout the world, the most recent of these is Islam. Islam is a religion that spread rapidly from the Middle East into Asia, Africa, and Europe. Despite the fact that there are many reasons that Islam spread quickly, there are three principle reasons. First, the many trade routes that went through Islam's holiest cities. Next, Islam was an extremely engaging religion to others.
The Islamic religion spread rapidly through trade, military conquest, political structure, and the overall appeal of the religion. Many of the early Islamic ideas originated from the prophet Muhammad in Saudi Arabia around the 600s. His teachings began in Mecca, a city between the crossroads of numerous trade centers (Scott). Mecca’s location became ideal for the expansion of Islam, as it could be spread by people along the trade routes. In the “Map of Byzantine and Persian Empires and Trade Routes in 570 C.E.” (Document A), it demonstrates how Mecca was in the center of several trade routes.
Islam spread so quickly because of military conquest and the government. Military conquest was a huge part of why Islam spread so quickly. By the year 750 the majority of the territory surrounding the Arabia was conquered and converted to Islam (Doc C). Being able to conquer that much land in just over 100 years shows the advanced military skill and knowledge the muslims possessed. The muslims skill in military affairs would have advanced the spread of Islam because they were able to conquer large amounts of land in a short time period and any land conquered would have been converted to Islam.
According to Document A,B and C it mostly spread in the 632-750. The Qur’an teaches to be a better person,therefore most people converted muslims to be a better person. After Islam grew it gained more ground giving a major advantage in battles. Once arabs started attacking, the muslim communities had to start defending because they didn’t permit to attack one another as stated in Document D. I have stated the three main reasons why islam

Islam went from a couple of people to all of Arabia, North Africa, Spain and South Asia. It all started when Muhammad visited a cave to pray. He thought the people of Mecca were to greedy. An angel came to the cave and made Muhammad speak Allah’s words. Allah was the monotheistic god, for Islam.

The religion of Islam spread so quickly because of complex and numerous trade routes, strong military conquests, and strong and convincing religious messages. New theories and inventions were experimented with. These discoveries were made possible by earlier findings made by Muslims. For example, new planets were uncovered because of what began with the Muslim astrolabe and evolved into the first telescope. Without Islamic contributions, the Renaissance would not have occurred, or had effects, on such a grand scale, because the Europeans wouldn’t have had such a strong foundation to further
Expansion of Islam Islam expanded many different ways such as conquering, peace treaties, and by giving stipends to people who were warriors in the Islamic armies. All of these methods helped in the expansion of Islam. One of the most violent ways Islam expanded was they conquered anybody who was in there way because in document A it says “cut the arms of these non-Muslims with your swords.” This how ruthless the Muslims were to win all the battles they’ve fought.
Islam spread quickly because of Mecca, the center of practice, geographic location, its beliefs and morals, and its militaristic conquest. Mecca, the center of Islamic practice, is situated on the Arabian Peninsula. The Arabian Peninsula is surrounded by many bodies of water, making it a great center of trade. The second reason Islam spread so quickly was because of its beliefs and morals. The appeal of Islam to people was a very great factor into why Islam spread so quickly.
Throughout my childhood I witnessed the numerous challenges that my mother has had to face from being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age twenty-three. This personal connection with a life changing disease has inspired and encouraged my dedication to studying Biochemistry at the University of Washington. I am motivated to utilize the opportunities provided to me through education in order to improve circumstances for others impacted by such diseases. Her sickness has never kept her back from her dedication or desire to help me, even when she herself needed the most help. As a young adult I understand, admire, and appreciate everything she has sacrificed for me.
