To begin, I read Stolen, by Lucy Christopher. I enjoyed reading it because it was very interesting. I couldn’t put down the book, I had to keep reading to see what was going to happen next. The book is about a 16-year old-girl, named Gemma, who was kidnapped at an airport. Ty, her kidnapper takes her to a place in the Australian Outback. Gemma finds out that Ty had been watching her during her childhood. Gemma tries to escape, but Ty comes to the rescue and protects her from escaping. But Ty doesn’t want to hurt her or scare her, and over time Gemma becomes more appreciative of Ty and feels something for him, or is it Stockholm syndrome? I am going to compare and contrast the protagonist and antagonist, Gemma and Ty. A protagonist is the main character and focuses more on their experiences. Being brave is one way that Gemma and Ty are similar. Gemma is brave because she asked Ty many honest questions about why he kidnapped her. For example, Gemma asks Ty, “What’s going to happen?,” and “How long will you keep me?” She is also brave because she even had the guts to try to escape in the desert. Ty is brave because he was brave in ways he never thought he would have to be with Gemma.
