Garth Brooks No one would have ever thought that a kid who was interested in sports, especially from Oklahoma, would turn out to be a country music singer. However, this is what happened to Garth Brooks. Garth Brooks went from a kid with a scholarship to an all time country music singer who has won numerous awards.
Garth Brooks background of a child was an impressive turnout. He was born on February 7 1962, by Collen Carrol, in Tulsa oklahoma (Brooks). Collen wanted to name him Garth but his dad wanted Troyal. The two parents just decided Troyal Garth Brooks (Brooks). Garth grew up in Yukon Oklahoma with sports on his mind. He went to Yukon high school, winning in the sports he's played (Brooks). While in college and playing sports he picked up the guitar and started playing. Not only playing sports but for extra money he sang in bars and clubs (Brooks). He started getting crowds and a little money so he took a recording deal and went to Nashville Tennessee in 1985 (“Contemporary Musicians”). This recording deal didn't work out for Garth so he continued in clubs and bars. Three years later Garth signed a contract with Capitol Records, where he released his first album (Brooks).
Garth Brooks first album set off chain reaction of big hits. In 1989 his first album “Garth Brooks” was released (Brooks). Witch landed him the largest selling musical act (“Contemporary Musicians”). Around this time the song “The Dance,” was chosen the song of the year. The two songs “The Dance,” and “If Tomorrow Never Comes,” peaked number two on the country music Billboard magazine. Garth sold more than nine million copies in 1990
