Out of the seven success behaviors that were discussed in the article, The Successful Organization: Keeping the Talent That Drives Your Results; the one that I can identify the most with would be being conscious. Both in my professional and personal life I try my best to be mindful on the impact my words, actions, and body language can have on those around me. For example, when I was promoted almost a year ago it was challenging to change the perception my peers at the time had of me. I was under the impression that because I already had certain peer relationships my transition into leadership will be smooth. Boy was I completely wrong. I quickly came to learn that there was a perception of favoritism amongst those who I had a prior rapport with and I was unapproachable to those employees who I had not taken the time to get to know. Taking the time to look back and see who were those managers that I didn't get along with or cared to build a rapport with allowed me to quickly change my strategy to change the perception that was being perceived of me.
