Imagine living in a world where the people can only pray and hope that they can see the light of tomorrow. Where there are men that can raid your house and then shoot you and your family until you are all dead or they can lock you in your house and then slaughter you all by burning the house or throwing explosives at it. This is the life which the people live in in the novel Under the Persimmon Tree by Suzanne Fisher Staples. If they are the rulers of Afghanistan, then why do everyone hate them? The Taliban that we Americans picture are “A group of radically militant terrorists that reign terror on all the people in Afghanistan and more places (Kevin Nygen documentary script.) But are these “radically militant terrorists” (K.N) really like what we think they are? Taliban translated into English means “the seekers (of wisdom??)” (Nathan Hawes, documentary script). However nice their name seems, they have killed and terrorized the entire Middle East claiming millions of lives as well as making people have to leave their homes and possessions to escape to find a better life than the one they have had in the Middle East. The Taliban are a reason why we have the migrant/refugee crisis today.
