Between Sundays is a book about a young boy who lost his mom and he believes that the star quarterback for the 49ers is his dad. This book is written by Karen Kingsbury. The theme of this book would be second chances, faith, and foster children. In the book, second chances is big for the star quarterback, Aaron Hill, who is self absorbed and keeps making mistakes. He gets the chance to finally settle down with one girl and he messes in up because of her foster child.
Unbroken is a true story told by Laura Hillenbrand from the words and memories of Louis Zamperini. The main themes, survival, resilience and redemption, are illustrated throughout the story. Louie Zamperini becomes an Olympic athlete by his determination and influence of his older brother Pete. However, once World War II starts, Louie starts a new chapter of his life by becoming an expert of the Norton Bomb Sight on one of the many notorious B-24s. After many outrageous missions on the unreliable equipment, Louie and his squadron are forced to crash into the ocean.

He used his military skills to conquer most of the known world until he died in 323 B.C.E, and his empire soon followed the same fate (BGE). Was Alexander the Great great?
When someone dies it is often assumed that the body is now useless and nothing but a decaying pile of bones. Yet author Mary Roach contradicts this assumption by arguing that the human body is perhaps the most useful dead rather than alive. Death may be brutal and difficult to cope with, but death is not at all in vain. Roach and other anatomists have objectified human cadavers by covering the body’s hands and face in order to bear with the natural emotional distresses of the human condition. As harsh as it seems, the death of one can potentially become the savior of the lives of millions.
The book Gravestone, written by Travis Thrasher is a mystery book all in itself. Thrasher never seams to disappoint with his novels. Once again a teen named Chris Buckley, is taken through a mysterious chapter in his life. He's will always remember his old girlfriend no matter what he does or where he goes. But Thrasher always knows how to grab his readers and drag them along with Chris as he goes throughout another mystery.
A coming-of-age story revolves around the growth of the main character throughout the book. Neil Gaiman is the author of "The Graveyard Book." The Graveyard Book is about a boy who is raised in a graveyard by supernaturals. The boy's name is Nobody Owens. Nobody Owens was the only survivor of his family's murders.
During the summer I read and enjoyed the book Life as We Knew by Susan Beth Pfeffer. It was hard to decide who changed the most in the book because the conflict (the asteroid hitting the moon) affected everyone in the story. In my opinion, I think during the book Miranda's mom (Laura) changed the most. My reason for thinking this is because a lot of Miranda's diary talks about her mom. The author did a great job showing how Laura was acting and how she took care of Miranda and her siblings as a single mom.
The Novel Away by Michael Gow strongly amplifies the sense of uncovering what is hidden to reconsider what is known. Another text that relates to this is the Good Place. Both texts explain what is hidden and what it takes to explore and to think about what needs to be uncover. This makes the characters in the texts find that it is easier to unwind and explore what is hidden to try and discover something new and live a happy and worry free life. They find that they need to release their emotions and tell someone about what is happening in their lives.
The Graveyard Book Theme The theme of the text, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman is that fate and free will are apart of life and we need to embrace them. Neil Gaiman weaves this throughout his novel by showing how Bod is destined to fight the Jacks. He somehow gets lead to the graveyard where he meets people like Mr. and Mrs. Owens that take care of him. Thousands of years ago someone predicted Bod would defeat the Jacks.

Most people expected us to be enemies, but we worked around that s—t. Rest in Heaven, my bro. Danny-P was an Englewood legend, even the guys that hated him had to respect him. When people spoke of Danny they did so with caution.
The main character in the story “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” written by Joyce Carol Oates, is a fifteen-year-old girl named Connie. This character appears to be a typical teenager who feels misunderstood by her family. The relationship with her family causes her to live two different lives “Everything about her had two sides to it, one for home and one for anywhere that was not home.” (86) Connie’s dual lifestyle and inability to communicate with her family will eventually lead to her demise.
Mitch Albom grew up with a family who loved to tell stories. He went from listening to them at the dinner table, to telling them through music, newspapers, and later books. Albom has a very distinct way of writing. Drawing in his experiences and talking about lessons he has learned. The Five People You Meet in Heaven and Tuesdays with Morrie have many parallels when it comes to characters and themes.
This story is written by Brian Caswel and he is persuading the power of love between 2 siblings. Brian Caswel used three techniques of the characters development, setting, theme to tell the story of the main character (Jason). Brian Caswel used a lot of meaning behind the story sixty minutes, and this short story of his was really about family and treasuring their love. This story proves that family will always come first no matter what happens in life but lastly, it’s about life after death. Jason the main character saw his own spirit was out of his body and can see what is happening with his surroundings.
LOSS, GRIEF AND HEALING As human beings, we suffer losses of many kinds and sizes in our life time. While some of these losses are small and do not hurt much, some are big and hurt deeply. Those that are accompanied by pains that are difficult to bear include the loss of a loved one through death or divorce, cheating or unfaithfulness in a trusted relationship or loss of good health when a diagnosis of a terminal illness is made. In all these instances of loss, pain and grief are experienced and an emotional wound is created which needs healing.
In Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s 1981 novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the narrative recounts the events leading up to the eventual murder of bachelor Santiago Nasar, a man accused of taking the virginity of the defrocked bride Angela Vicario despite the lack of evidence to prove the claim, and the reactions of the citizens who knew of the arrangement to sacrifice Nasar for the sake of honor. This highly intricate novella incorporates a range of literary techniques, all of which are for the readers to determine who is really to blame for Santiago Nasar’s death. Marquez uses techniques such as foreshadowing and the structure of narrative, along with themes such as violence, religion, and guilt to address the question of blame. Although Santiago
