Intro: Karl Marx was a scholarly man during his lifetime, 1818 to 1883, born in Germany to a Jewish household and converted to Lutheranism. He was a man of literature and had earned his PhD in philosophy from the University of Jena and had made a career in journalism after being denied a university position. Shortly after beginning his career in journalism, Marx had earned himself a period of exile in Paris by the Prussian authorities for expressing his radial social views. After his exile, followed by several other moves, he had finally settled in London where he lived in poverty. Although Marx had wrote books and made many contributions by writing and editing for newspapers he is best known for his much debated and argued theories of socialism in The Communist Manifesto.
