Placement of mind Braelyn Navarrete Imagine you are attending a college, and one day when the bell rings and you are walking to your next class, you come across a man that you recognize, because you’ve heard about him. He is taking back his old iron rod that you know he willingly gave to your school. You would probably be pretty shocked right? Well Phineas Gage (PG) was that man. When he stole the tamping iron, he did it alone without any help. This act was one of the many examples of PG’s indecisiveness. He spouts vulgar language in the presence of women” (Fleishman 20). This shows how he started to act toward people that he used to get along with. When Phineas insults his old workmates and friends that he didn’t insult before, one can see his change in behavior. PG also didn’t cuss at women before his accident because that was considered disrespectful. “Whatever Phineases problems with people, he gets on well with horses” (Fleishman 46). “He seems happiest with children and animals!” (Fleishchman 46) This shows how his social interests changed when it came to who and what he started to be around. He didn’t fully lose social interactions. He cared about socializing with different people and animals.
