1. Compare and Contrast A. Summary for first author U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, from “Why Abortion Is Bad for America,” The Human Life Review (2012), discusses why he is against abortions from mainly a moral viewpoint, rather than a political viewpoint. Overall, he states that an unborn child is still a human being and that they have the right to live. Rubio states agrees that the mother has her own right to do whatever she wants, but when there is a child living in her, that child has its own right. Therefore, the mothers “are the voice of children who cannot speak for themselves.”
A fetus is also a life. All lives are equal and a fetus also has the right to live. It is inhumane to deprive a life’s basic rights. It is even immoral to kill animals that have human characteristics,
Analysis Perhaps the most popular argument made against abortion is that the fetus is a person. Based on this assertion, the fetus has a moral right to life. The problem that Thomson identifies is that most of the anti-abortionist and pro-life supporters rely solely on this aspect for their argument and do not rationalize any other matter.
The author stated that women are still recognized human with choices even this year. Kaine’s doesn’t necessarily believe abortion however, support who ever is willing to perform abortion. Finally, the democrat’s party’s ideology is to provide a safe and legal abortion for every woman. The strongest argument
Written Assignment #6 In Judith Jarvis Thompson’s article, A Defense of Abortion, where Thompson discusses argues that abortion is not always permissible, but permissible in certain circumstances; such as, the abortion is done attempt to save the mother’s life and in cases of rape. However, I do not believe provides a solid enough argument in stating that abortion is immoral in nearly all circumstances. In this argument, Thompson takes on the perceptive that the fetus is a living person.
A woman should be able to do whatever she wants to her body. In addition, the growing organism inside of her is a completely separate individual who is dependent on its mother. In the article, “Should Abortion Be Legal?” by Bob Johnson, he makes a claim saying that, “All people have a right to do to their own bodies what they will. However, the fetus, or unborn baby, is a distinct individual.
In “A Defense of Abortion” by Judith Jarvis Thomson, she argues for the claim that even if a fetus is a person from conception (and has a full right to life), a pregnant woman still has the right to have an abortion even if she is characterized as self-centered. There is a case where she should not choose to have an abortion because it is seen as morally wrong (435). The opposition to abortion relies on the idea that a fetus is a human being from the moment they are conceived, instead of explaining how that makes abortion wrong. The opposition to abortion would argue that everyone has a right to life, including a fetus, and the mother does have a right to her body, but a person’s right to life is more important, so the fetus should not be killed

Charlotte Taft once said “Women who have abortions do so because they value life and because they take very seriously the responsibilities that come not just with birth, but with nurturing a human being”. The Editorial Board at The New York Times believes in this statement as well. The Editorial Board published an editorial on June 27, 2016 titled “A major Victory for Abortion Rights”. The article published, is about a change in Texas 's anti-abortion law and is intended for woman who can or will bear children. The editorial was created to persuade these women that if another woman who is pregnant and cannot keep the unborn child or does not want to keep the child, that these women should have the right to abort the embryo or fetus legally.
Hence, this makes the fetus a complete human being as well, with the equal rights to live with those who have entered the world
By challenging the widely held premise that a fetus, considered a human being from conception, possesses an absolute and unassailable right to life, Thomson invites readers to reconsider their perspectives on this divisive issue. This analysis will delve into the intricacies of her argument, examining key premises, the ultimate conclusion, and evaluating the validity and soundness of Thomson's rationale. Premises: The Fetus as a Person: Thomson begins by acknowledging the prevalent belief that every person possesses an inherent right to life. However, she adopts, for the sake of argument, the assumption that a fetus is a person, setting the foundation for a nuanced examination of the implications of this right. The pervasive belief in the absolute right to life for a fetus becomes a focal point of Thomson's scrutiny.
As humans, we are given different rights that are meant to provide us with a chance at a good life. However, these rights can become compromised when it comes to conflicts between a pregnant woman and her fetus. The right of the fetus to live is seen as inferior to the right of the mother to have an abortion. Although each of the rights is different, it is not appropriate to say that one citizen’s rights are more superior than another citizen’s rights.
But the women have the right to choose as long as the fetus is not outside the
Lead by the conservative politicians, their aims have been to cut federal funding so that Federal dollars are not going towards abortions. Annas and Mariner (2011) discuss the issues presented to Barack Obama when attempting to pass the Affordable Care Act. He spoke in 2010, reassuring the American people that federal money would not be spent on abortions (p. 1590). With the recent election in America, Trump and the Republican government will bring up issues involving funding to Planned Parenthood. Trump’s Vice-President, Mike Pence has been a strong advocate against Planned Parenthood for several years (Ziegler, 2012, p. 724).
(Tanner) Pro-choice defenders also say that it is the woman 's right to choose to have the baby or not, forgetting the baby 's rights. The life of a human being begins at the moment of conception, and it is not the fetus´s fault if the mother wasn 't ready to have a baby or if the situation in which baby was conceived wasn 't ideal. For example, if the baby is conceived by rape, the baby should not pay the consequences of other people, he or she has not done anything wrong .”Compassion for the mothers is extremely important, but it is never
