Violence might be the Answer It has been precisely seventy-five years since the incident at Pearl Harbor. Japan dropped bombs on the naval base when Marine corporal E.C. Nightingale was aboard a ship. He recounts, “The explosion rips the ship’s sides open like a tin can starting a fire that engulfs the entire ship. Within minutes she sinks to the bottom taking 1,300 lives with her” (EyeWitness to History). The attack only lasted an hour, but the families of 2,340 military personnel and 48 civilians (NPS) were changed forever.
Jackie Prokopeas Professor Crombar English 3 GT AP 23 September 2015 The Will Years had passed since Pearl and Hester had fled the New World and returned to Europe. Although no one in Europe knew about their past, it seemed almost as if their sins had followed them on their voyage across the Atlantic because wherever they fled to they had no companions, and were ostracized from the rest of society. Being so secluded, it was very unlikely for a letter to make its way to either Hester and Pearl, however on one very peculiar day, on a day Pearl was about to ensconce on a walk, until she noticed an envelope on her doorstep, handwritten across the top read, “For the eyes of the one who never wronged me, Pearl” Pearl, quite perplexed as
World War ll was one of the deadliest and most widespread conflicts in history. It involved the majority of the world's nations, and it is estimated that around 70 million people died as a result. The United States' entry into the war is often attributed to the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan on December 7th, 1941. It led to the United States’ entry in to the World War and ulimately led to the Allies’ victory over the Axis Powers. However, it is reasonable to argue that if Japan never attacked Pearl Harbor, the United States would not have joined the war.
Pearl Harbor was an American naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii. On December 7, 1941 Japan, attacked Pearl Harbor. Hideki Tojo was the Prime Minister of Japan at the time of the bombard. The attack only lasted for around two hours. In those devastating two hours, the Japanese demolished nearly 20 American naval vessels and more than 300 airplanes.
Secondly, Would you ever have the guts to shoot your friend? George may have done it with dignity and for the best but i still don’t think that was okay. George should have looked out for Lennie better than just leaving him alone, or at least let lennie go. If i had that problem, i would have talked to my friend and helped them or go away with them. Shooting your “friend” isn’t being a friend.
Pearl Harbor, To Never Be Forget Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. The bombing of Pearl Harbor was a nightmare for Americans and a shock to the rest of the world. The United States of America was jolted into the reality that they were not invincible from foreign attacks.
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is set in a dystopian society where everyone is a clones. Everything is given to the people of all the different tiers in society. They are given these pleasures to make them not desire anything else in the world, and they’re continuously kept “happy”. There are many different pleasures to keep them at entertained, orgies, sports, feelies, and souma just to name a few. Now our current day society has a lot of the same entertainment as the book.
Henry wondered about the interior. He was not disappointed. Henry felt lucky, and proud, as he boarded the ship. He felt lucky, since he was a part of this historic occasion, the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic.
July 1945, Dear President Truman, I am writing to you to offer you my suggestion on what I believe you should do regarding the bombs. I have thought long and hard about this and I believe you should use the bombs to end the war with Japan as the end outcome will be much more constructive than harmful. My reasons for this are: 1. In the end it’s about stopping the war promptly.
Traveling has been my passion ever since I was a little girl. I love meeting new people, learning about new cultures, and visiting new places. By far my favorite place to be is Royal Caribbean’s private island Cococay, located in the Bahamas just north of Nassau. Cruising with Royal Caribbean is the only way to gain access to the island, something that my parents and I have experienced over 14 times. Sadly, though not all cruise lines live up to the amazing experiences Royal Caribbean has to offer.
“All our progress is an unfolding, like a vegetable bud. You have first an instinct, then an opinion, then a knowledge as the plant has root, bud, and fruit. Trust the instinct to the end, though you can render no reason.” Through instinct and reasoning, Ralph Waldo Emerson conveys the consequence of living a lifestyle with the absence of ‘root, bud, and fruits.’ Because of the social norms that has progressively become more strict today, society has become desensitized due to social norms degrading both men and women to be true to themselves towards others.
In today’s world, alcohol is acceptable, and marijuana is just plain terrifying. This “weed” is apparently taught to be a plague to society and only brings violence and criminal activity, Society is afraid of this drug, but fails to realize that both alcohol and cigarettes actually have some nasty side effects that are not present in marijuana. It has been proven that people who use alcohol usually are too drunk to rationalize anything, and can turn violent and aggressive out of nowhere, meanwhile people who use weed are calm and chilled due to its effectiveness as a mood stimulant (Marijuana Policy Project). In comparison to cigarettes commonly known cancerous side-effect, there has been no link to pot and lung cancer (National Organization
When a person hears the name Steven Spielberg, they immediately think of the blockbuster movies, Jaws, Extra terrestrial Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones etc. However, Spielberg has directed other important films, many of which were selected to be saved by the national film registry like Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan, for their extreme accuracy in the portrayal of important moments and people in history. However, there is still a debate whether Spielberg should be considered the best director of all time. The answer to this question is obvious , he definitely is the best as he has directed blockbusters as well historical films where his use of the camera, his choice of actors, music and his attention to detail make him the best director
The first class passengers had the most luxurious living conditions during the voyage. They were on the top floor of the Titanic just above the second class and third class passengers. Some luxurious spots they had over everyone else included dining rooms, salons, and decks (Kupperberg 9). There were also many rich and famous people on board in the first class. One was the world’s richest man during this time period John Jacob Astor.
