I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I am on page 42. So far this book is about a group of kids who were alive through the Great Depression. These kids seem to all share one single trait. They are all scared of one family. They go out of their way to avoid this house and this family. In this journal I will be predicting and evaluating.
G - I predict that Jem, Scout and Dill won’t meet Boo. Y - They are scared of him. R - Boo just looks plain scary.

Y - They are Dirty
Burris has “cooties” aka head lice
Burris has dirt layers on his skin Y - They are Disrespectful Law breakers
Burris only shows up for the first day of school
Burris goes hunting during the non-hunting season
G - Clearly the ewells are dirty, disrespectful people and above were just some of their family's traits
The Ewells are portrayed in the book as careless and rude people, and there are many traits that can be used to describe them. One example of an acceptable trait for the Ewell family is the word dirty. Burris comes to school with layers of dirt sewn to his skin. Not only that, but he has head lice too! Another reason that the Ewells are frowned upon in this town is that they are law breakers. For one, there is the truancy. Burris only shows up to school once every year! Also, they are poachers. A poacher is someone who hunts during the non-hunting season. It is obvious that the Ewells are dirty, disrespectful people and they are not liked in this
