To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel written by Harper Lee, which is told from the perspective of character Jean ”Scout” Finch. The story follows the life of young Scout in the city of Maycomb, where she lives with her father Atticus and brother Jem. Throughout the novel there is a trial that is observed by the eyes of Scout Finch. In this written assignment, my aim is to further explore Tom Robinson’s character and feelings towards the trial and his conviction. This aim is to be achieved through a letter he sends to Atticus, expressing his gratitude and appreciation for Atticus taking the case and not giving up even though it was a lost case from the beginning.
