Tony Campolo's Discussion Of Homosexuality

Being a Christian myself, it is not difficult for me to find a common ground with the things that Tony Campolo and Brian McLaren say in Adventures in Missing the Point, except for on the topic of Homosexuality. In the chapter on Homosexuality, Tony Campolo claims that Christians consider the gay and lesbian community to be inferior to them. But this is simply false; Christians should treat the gay and lesbian community with the same respect and compassion that we do everyone else.
Campolo continues on with an explanation of the difference between homosexual orientation and behavior. What Campolo says is that homosexual orientation is fine and not considered a sin, but that homosexual behavior is sinful. This is where I disagree with Campolo; I do not believe that homosexual behavior is considered a sin; that within the confines of marriage, homosexual intercourse is not sinful in any way. The current situation is that many Christians believe that it is biblically wrong for two women or men to have sex with each other even if they are legally married. The next step is to explore alternative arguments. In his chapter, Campolo summarizes the idea that homosexual behavior is sinful according to Bible verses, but my argument against his is that Christians have a tendency to pick and choose which Bible verses they want to follow which is made obvious when it comes to the topic of homosexuality. For example, often times, Christians will use several verses from Leviticus and Deuteronomy to support the claim that homosexual behavior is sinful and yet, they do not see wearing two different fabrics as sinful which is mentioned in Leviticus and Deuteronomy as
