Technology is the next generation. In today’s society, computers and other forms of technology are becoming a huge part of culture and daily life. Children of young ages to adults are learning how to use them. Whether one plays games on their ipad, types notes for school, or researches information for their job, people are constantly using technology. Computer Science is the study of computers and all of their aspects. It includes mathematical activities and studies of different systems. Some may think Computer Science only includes building computers and robots, however there are so many more fields and areas of work. Areas range from Computer Engineering to Cognitive Science to Computer Graphics. Whether their program is small or big, almost every university will have one. Some of the top Computer Science colleges in the country include Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, Harvard University and Carnegie Mellon. These universities have many areas of research such as aerospace computational design or cybersecurity (“Top 25 Ranked Computer Science Programs with the Best Return on Investment (ROI) 2014”). The top ranked Computer Science colleges are prestigious and very challenging to gain acceptance. For example, the Computer Science program at Carnegie Mellon has an acceptance rate of 5% (“Undergraduate Admission Statistics”), meaning in 7,000 students applied, only about 350 students would be accepted. Of the students who attended Carnegie Mellon in 2015 for freshman year, their SAT scores ranged from 730-800 and their ACT scores average a 35 (“Undergraduate Admission Statistics”).
