College is a place filled with opportunity. Opportunity to explore myself both personally and academically. It is the place where I can discover my interests and become an expert in a field that is close to my heart. College will give me the opportunity to reach my version of the American dream. I never viewed college as an option, but as a necessity. I come from a middle-class family that immigrated from Bangladesh in hopes to progress in life. I’ve always had a passion for math and science. I plan to dual major in Computer Science and Mathematics. Throughout high school, my passion and intrest for the tech field grew. I took online courses to teach myself how to code and the logical reasoning behind programs. However, coding is just one component of Computer Science. In college, I want to learn the analytical skills that is need in computing technology. Computer Science is the study of the hardware and software that runs commuting devices. My goal is to learn the theoretical process that is involved creating and implementing software. Having the opportunity of living on campus, I am learning from my surroundings. I want to expand my worldview. The most valuable lesson I can learn from college, is to view the world from the perspective of others. I am used to attending schools with people who look just like me and share similar view points as me. At NYU, there is a lot of diversity which will give me the opportunity to learn about different ideas that I haven’t been exposed to before. I aspire to have an educated view on world issues.
