Cornell is a prestigious university that is well known in the world for its rigorous academics and endless opportunities, which attract outstanding students from all over the world. Not only the academics have attracted me, but also the campus as well. As a local, I’m often captivated by Cornell’s undeniably beautiful campus, numerous libraries, and the walking workout sideways. Furthermore, Cornell can provide world-class programs and enrich one’s experiences, and hopefully I can take advantage of them. My love for math is enhanced by my passion for science. It is common knowledge that science courses require strong mathematical foundation. Over the course of my high schools years, I have dedicated myself to study rigorous AP math and science courses — Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Psychology, Computer Science, and Biology — in order to prepare for a career that uses applied math to solve complicated, scientific problems. …show more content…

Combined with the reputable math department at Cornell, I believe Cornell offers unparalleled opportunities and unlimited resources for students with a passion for solving real world problems. With that being that, I really admire professor Steven Strogatz for his work on dynamic system, which can be applied to physics, biology, and social sciences. It’s truly amazing how one mathematical model can be applied to many fields of science. What really pulls me into Cornell is Summer Program for Undergraduate Research. I know that majority of the researches yield world changing results every year, and I hope to make contributions as a Cornell student. One research I’ll be looking forward to is Optimality and Uncertainty directed by Alex Vladimirsky because they are often used in computers simulations, which is my next
