I have known Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for as long as I can remember. I had this affinity for this institution and constantly discovered myself at its campus; I was determined to be there whenever my father visited my brother. This happened frequently. My interest in Rensselaer intensified through my Engineering teacher in highschool. He spoke the very best about Rensselaer and how blessed it would be if one of his students received an acceptance to such an academically rich school. Of course, only visiting the campus would not solidify my desire to attend Rensselaer. I would have to live the life of an RPI student to truly experience its eccentric lifestyle. The way Rensselaer is driven is through its unconventional methods and routines that make the school unique. From its daily campus events and programs to its curriculum, it set itself apart from my other colleges. To accomplish this, I would apply to an Outreach program hosted by Rensselaer’s S.H.P.E chapter in my sophomore year of highschool. I slept in a dorm, had a roommate, wandered the campus, and attended various college classes. Within three days (the length of the program) I was able to indulge myself with the school's lifestyle. The vibe I received walking through Rensselaer’s campus felt familiar. It was a school filled with my niche of people. Students who wanted to expand their knowledge in order to help others; to change the world. I have always been an advocate on this subject matter and have completed activities throughout my highschool career in my own attempt to change the world, even if it is just one person's world. At my internship, I used a combination of my engineering and electronics knowledge to help those in developing countries. This is the type of activity RPI students partake in. A type of activity I would love to continue at Rensselaer; using one's knowledge to benefit
