I am writing as an applicant for the 2017 Tenure Track Assistant Professor position within your Cultural and Design Management program. In this statement, I will cite my teaching philosophy and as what I think I can provide to your program. My first passion is the field of service management, and I have worked for four years as a service coordinator with TeleDynamics Malaysia (now known as Toshiba Tec Corporation) to understand the meaning of service design and delivery as well to organize customers experience in improving service delivery. Being a service practitioner previously, I have the opportunity to share my personal experiences and goals with students in hopes that they develop their own goals early on in their career. My professional goals are simple. When my students graduated, I want to be remembered as a very professional, hardworking, happy and outgoing as well as knowledgeable faculty member. I think it is important to mention that I don’t have a specific rank that I have set my sights on. When I look back, I want to be confident that I have gave everything I could to this profession, and that I impacted others I worked with. I feel that all of us can do this at the rank of junior and senior employees. By taking this same philosophy and applying it to teaching, I think I will have a positive impact on students and their ability to find their own success. There are lots of opportunities which we all can explore. In certain classes, there will be knowledge and comprehension questions and answers, while in other classes; there will be a lot more theory involved in application and evaluation with decision-making. I see service as an activator of new products and services and value-added activities that cut across cultures. Me as a facilitator in service classrooms, I have adopted ideas from the text, personal experience, and from student examples to bridge their knowledge and to encourage the entire class to explore ideas and solutions to problems. In my opinion, the best teachers are those who understand their subject matter so much that they can let students explore on ideas and only interject when the class I headed in the wrong
