When growing up in the Northern Lebanon School District many aspects of our culture may seem bland, but to somewhere who has lived there their entire life, there are some pieces that may seem unique. Despite the lavish facilities or excellent academics of other schools, I am proud to be a part of Northern Lebanon’s environment. One of the ways that our community and school is unique is the difference that other students and myself have made. To quote one of Bill Withers’ most famous songs, “We all need somebody to lean on.” Whether it is academic support, volunteer activities, or extracurricular involvement, my endeavors to be a person to lean on has made a difference in the community. As I continue my education and ultimately pursue a career, I hope to improve my character to become a greater contribution to society. With plans to attend a service academy and become an officer in the armed forces, I will continue to have opportunities to improve the lives of those around me. One of my goals to help the community, although uncommon for many successful alumni, is to return to NL with the intent of improving the lives of students. As an administrator, teacher, or advisor to one of the many clubs, my experiences through life will help me to return with the motivation that the community always needs. As I have had many mentors through my youth, I aspire to become a role model and leader to students for the sake of inspiring other individuals to be devoted to serving the community. If I can do my part to be a someone to lean on, I know students will aspire to their greatest potential, creating a society of young individuals who are determined and prepared for what the future may
