As a result of the billions of dollars Uber and Airbnb have brought in due to disruption of city economies and exploitation of their workers, their aspect of globalization is nothing short of impressive. Globalization is referred to as “the worldwide exchange of money, goods and services as well as the Socio-cultural changes that occur as a result”(Ravelli and Webber 2010, p.503). The magnitude of these firms has been driven from technology; the Internet has connected the world and made these services not only useable, but very accessible. To illustrate this Uber and Airbnb is in 34,00 cities and over 190 countries. Slee exemplifies this by expressing “ The Sharing Economy continues to have the support and allegiance of many progressive- minded people…(but evokes), those ideas ideals to build massive private fortunes, to erode communities, to encourage more entitles from of consumerism, and to create that is more precarious and more unequal than ever”(Slee, 2016, pg.67). Slee is against the sharing economy because he knows these companies business model and illustrates how irresponsible we as users are. Everyone who signs up for these services have created expansion and is too responsible for the private fortunes they earn. There is a lot to be learned in terms of expansion of these platforms, they have broken the norms and “regular” that business ensue. Nonetheless, nothing can be done on the harms the companies have put on communities and it people, but the future could change. Slee explains substantial challenges remain in order to change, starting with the raising standards. In short, globalization of these companies isn’t the greatest of things for the world’s economy, but it did provide services to a large group of people for a cheaper
