Argument Rough Draft Underage drinking is something that happens all over the US. It has caused deaths, ruined futures, and torn families apart. Many kids in college and even high school have a problem with binge drinking already at the age of 17 or 18. Some people across the country have come up with the idea to lower the drinking age limit to 18. The age limit should not be lowered because the brain isn’t fully developed by 18, it will lower GPA’s, and drunk driving accounts for 4,700 deaths per year among teens. To begin with, the brain isn’t fully developed at the age of 18. In the article “Drinking Under 21 Can Negatively Impact One’s Health” by Stephanie Turner says, “…consuming the substance impacts your hippocampus, and area of the brain that handles your memory and learning.” During your teenage years is when you go through the most puberty, which is when you grow and your body changes. This is also when you brain grows and develops the most. If we were to lower the age limit, it would just be easier for college students to get alcohol, which would mean that they could get even more. College students love to party, most the time these parties involve ridiculous amounts of alcohol. When they drink huge amounts like this, the next day they are less likely to go to class.(Fox) And when kids start to miss classes repetitively, there are more likely to fail that class. Therefore, we should not lower the drinking age limit, it would just be more accessible to college students and
