The Uniform Commercial Code was initially created in 1945 with the goal of promoting interstate commerce in the United States of America. The code started as a project being created by the Uniform Law Commission (ULC) and the American Law Institute (ALI). The Uniform Law Commission was originally formed as early as 1892 with the intent to write and create uniform commercial laws. They created countless laws before the creation of the UCC the following century. Some of these laws include the Uniform Sales Act and Uniform Warehouse Receipts Act in 1906, the Uniform Conditional Sales Act in 1918, etc. (1) The ULC joined with the American Law Institute to create the Uniform Commercial Code with the goal of creating a code that set guidelines for transactions that occurred between the states. …show more content…

Although each state has its own governing bodies and business focuses, they ultimately are part of one country. Having the UCC allows for the states to communicate and benefit from each other for their own business ventures. The code is also very beneficial for companies that are nationally run and have locations in various states. It would not make sense for the same business to adhere to different standards and regulations on commerce because they are in different states. I understand that it is necessary for businesses to also recognize and prioritize specific characteristics of local areas at all times. Allowing states to create their own commerce regulations would promote the support of local businesses and the wants of the residents in each state. However, this is ultimately unrealistic as thousands of companies span across at least two states. The code allows for consistency amongst businesses across the nation; therefore, I believe that the implementation of the Uniform Commercial Code is a necessary piece of legislation in maintaining the selling of goods in all
