Task 2, M2. Under this task I will compare used motivation theories between Oman Air Company and McDonalds. Oman Air Company they used Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy theory Maslow wants to understand what motivates people. He believed that people possess a range of systems motive unrelated to the bonuses or the desires of subconscious. Maslow (1943) stated that people are motivated to achieve specific needs (theory-of-education, 2015). When the need is met one person seeks to meet the next one, and so on (Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs , 2015). This five Maslow’s stage can be divided into basic needs (e.g. physiological, safety, love, and esteem) and growth needs (self-actualization). The deficiency, or basic needs are said to motivate people when they are unmet. Also, the need to fulfil such needs will become stronger the longer the duration they are denied. The reason for this may be that the work at McDonald's safe, and the majority of workers in this company is made up of students, who are physiological needs can be satisfied by their families. However, McDonald's assertion that the work and expertise of its staff time flexibility obtained from their work (the-motivation-analysis-of-mcdonalds, 2015). McDonald's has a clear recognition on the needs of their employees, and satisfy their employees with the highest levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. In this case, the implementation of Maslow's theory being significantly by McDonald's. The factors that can motivate workers in McDonald’s to categorize into motivators and hygiene factors by Frederick Herzberg. Motivators such as interest and future job opportunities are the factors that give workers' job satisfaction, while hygiene factors such as work environment lead workers to be dissatisfied (the-motivation-analysis, 2015).
