Two specific examples of scientific discoveries that support Bernard Cohen's argument about the shift in scientific inquiry are: One example is the discovery of heliocentrism by Nicolaus Copernicus. In the late Middle Ages, the prevailing belief was in the geocentric model of the universe, where Earth was considered the center of the solar system. However, Copernicus's heliocentric model proposed that the Sun, not the Earth, was the center of the solar system. The scientific revolution made a vast impact on everyday lives, it caused computers, phones, and other items to be invented. This revolution has caused many conflicts, and with these conflicts it had changed the way people lived and made many people question life. The revolution had made many benefits for people and there were also some people that were harmed during this time. The scientific revolution had many different actions that caused wonderful objects to be invented and allowed people to know more about the world. Different actions were done to create the scientific revolution similar to when the societies developed conflicts, such as when Copernicus made the solar system, how the conflicts changed the societies by the church going against people, the people who experience harmed such as Galileo, and the people who benefitted from the change such as other boys.
Other scientists like Nicolas Copernicus believed in the Heliocentric Theory. At first, it didn’t explain how the planets orbits the way they did and was very hesitant to share it with others. In 1601, another scientist named Johannes Kepler proved that Copernicus idea was correct. They show that the planets rotate around the sun. Another method Copernicus, Kepler, and Galileo developed was called the Scientific Method.
However, a new idea, backed by math, was formed in the Renaissance by Nicolaus Copernicus, an astronomer. He found that the solar system revolves around the sun, not the Earth. This evidence helps to confirm how the Renaissance changed people’s understanding and appreciation of humans because people began to understand further how our world works and what is beyond us. Without these new beliefs, people would still be stuck believing that we are in the center of the universe, creating new issues in our society that we do not have
This caused many major conflicts. The Church did everything in their power to prove their point and make everyone believe it (Doc 3). The Revolution invented the scientific method, painstaking method used to confirm findings and to prove or disprove a hypothesis.
During the Scientific Revolution, natural philosophers developed a new scientific worldview. A heliocentric model of the universe replaced the geocentric model that was already in place and widely used. Different methods for discovering scientific laws such as Natural rights were developed. Scientist believed in a universe of matter in motion, which was reasoned with mathematics and experiments. Philosophes organized into societies widespread throughout Europe to make the spread of knowledge and ideas easier.

This time period was called the scientific revolution, where philosophers and scientists questioned the views on the world resulting in unfamiliar discoveries and the creation of new ideas. Science has influenced culture, religion, and government during this time as it made its crucial impact for their different way of thinking. Science was an important factor when it comes to progress within their society as there were many new findings.
The scientific revolution was a time that took place right after the Renaissance, the Renaissance was time period between the 1500’s and 1700’s where many were celebrating life and the start of a new period. During the Renaissance people started to question the beliefs of the Catholic Church. However, leading into the scientific revolution the church still mained their high power. This leads us to the start of the scientific revolution. During this time scholars started to challenge the views of ancient thinkers and the church.
The ideas of the universe and humanity’s place in it drastically changed during the Scientific Revolution. In the beginning, Europeans believed Ptolemy, who said man was the center of the universe, and then further justified this idea through the Christian belief that man was made by God, so he must be at the center of His world. However, later on, Copernicus challenged this view, stating that it was the sun, not man, that was at the center of this universe, and that man had to excel on his own and prove his place in such a system. As this new idea frightened the church, it also caused many men to either disprove science, justify their own religion through science, or branch off and create a whole new theories without using religious justifications. In Steven Shapin’s book, The Scientific Revolution, he described the massive scientific changes that occurred from the late 16th to the early 18th centuries. Shapin utilizes the scientists and their findings to demonstrate the changes that affected Western civilization. He describes his theory of the Scientific Revolution as he proves that the world has always had scientific advances. Steven Shapin states his thesis which influenced the modern world, that the Scientific Revolution did not happen during a single time period through the use of the three essential questions: What was known, How was it known, and What was the Knowledge for.

The Scientific Revolution started a domino effect of people beginning to understand the powers they held. People could freely ask questions instead of indiscriminately accepting what they were told. A basic summary of this effect is written in the first paragraph of the Declaration of Independence, “When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and assume among the powers of the earth…which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them…” (p. 72).
Is it possible to have a law that everyone ever could follow? In Immanuel Kant’s attempt to create a theory that deals with morality, he creates a categorical imperative and within it he creates the first formulation of the Categorical Imperative: Universal law. The idea of having every decision a person makes be based off of, what if everyone else did this, seems like a great idea, but there are flaws to this law that make me disagree with this theory. Immanuel Kant’s basic idea of the universal law is, that when a person is about to make a decision, they must consider if everyone made this decision when they were put in a similar situation how would the world be, if it’s not a world they would live in then the person should not do it. There
