The French artist, Claude Monet, was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris, France. His parents were Claude-Adolphe and Louise-Justine Aubree Monet and he was their second son. His dad had hoped that Claude Monet would help work in their family grocery store business, but Monet had much bigger plans for himself; he dreamed to become an artist. At the age of eleven, Monet had began going to Le Havre secondary school. By the age of fifteen he had already become well known as a local caricaturist.

As I stretch out across my bed, all ready to turn in for the night. I looked over at one of my many posters in my room. In third grade, he had gotten St. Vitus’ Dance, a disease where the nervous system could make involuntary movements. During the time he was confined to bed because of the illness, he drew pictures and listened to the radio.
Claude Monet was a French impressionist painter. He was born in Paris on November 14, 1840. He was a leader of the nineteen century impressionist art movement. Unlike some of other artists, Claude Monet was like to paint outside, directly from the nature. Also instead mixing colors on his palette, Claude Monet applied separate stroke of pure, unmixed colors directly on canvas.

Pablo Picasso was born in October 25, 1881, Málaga, Spain to Maria Picasso y Lopez and Jose Ruiz Blasco. In 1891, Picasso and his family were forced to move to La Coruña due to financial difficulties. There his father was offered a teaching position in art school where Picasso later joined. There he learned the basic systematic studies of art of which he mastered his Plaster Cast and Nature Drawing Classes (Picasso 5). This developed his distant skills in shading and luminosity in drawings.
In art, color is very personal and subjective, and gives different meaning to different people. However, in this Van Gogh piece, it is clear what the colors are used for. The blue found in the man’s overalls suggests uneasiness, melancholy and distress. Blue is unanimously associated with sorrow, and it is clear that in this piece, the subject is suffering immensely. The color is used to compliment the feelings the audience perceives from this artwork.
