Video Games Are Actually Beneficial
By:Matt Washburn It has long been thought that video games will “rot your brain” but, recent studies prove that the contrary holds true. Recent studies have proven that video games not only are not unhealthy, but they can even help develop skills. Some companies are taking it upon themselves to apply this to learning. Other companies have taken this to the next level by requiring employees to play certain games before they can have certain positions.

First off, The most well known way that video games are helpful is that video games help with hand-eye coordination, which is doing specific things with your hands without looking at them according to what your eyes see, therefore your hands and eyes are working together. Hand eye coordination is a skill used in sports, typing, surgery, and some jobs. “A team at the University of Toronto suggests that playing action video games regularly helps gamers learn new sensorimotor skills, especially eye and hand coordination” (TechTimes).
