Mother Teresa once said, “We do not need guns and bombs to bring peace. We need love and compassion.” Romeo and Juliet is tragedy written by William Shakespeare, about two wealthy families that have been feuding for years. The only child of each of the families have fallen in love and secretly got married without the knowledge of their families. In Romeo and Juliet, the disputes are attempted to be solved using violence but it creates more problems than solves.
If violence solves a problem it is not a permanent resolution and a great chance that more problems will occur than solve. Chronicle.com states that “People say that problems cannot be solved by the use of force, that violence, as the saying goes is not the answer...but whether or not violence is the answer depends on the question being asked,. For better or worse, violence usually provides the most definitive answers to three major questions of political life: statehood, territoriality, and power” (Ginsberg). The author says the definite answers received by violence that are important. In war, violence could be good to take out a deadly enemy. “Violence brings only temporary victories by creating many more social problems than it solves never brings permanent peace” (Martin Luther King Jr). Martin Luther King Jr. is saying that the victories won with violence are only temporary. More problems are aroused by violence than solved. “I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; evil it does is permanent” (Mahatma Gandhi). Gandhi states that the downfalls of violence are permanent even if the violence it does solves the initial problem that problem’s solution is only temporary.
