The difficulty is that these groups are constantly changing, so a feeling of stability is not always present. Currently, the high school is divided into three PLCs (“STEAM,” Humanities, and CTE). As a music educator, I am part of the “STEAM” group. I do believe there are benefits to participating in this particular cohort, but ideally a PLC of specifically “The Arts” would exist in our district. By being encouraged with others in our specific subject area we can invest in innovative initiatives that support instructional practice, research, and leadership in arts education.
2. Budgeting is a managerial tool. Budgeting provides a mean to plan and communicate. Budgets help communicate these plans. More financial information is provided for managers with feedback from the financial performance of a department.
Harpo Allen Middle School Scenario Reflection 1. Describe some approaches that could be used to establish a culture of high expectations for students and staff performances at Harpo Allen Middle School. • First, as a new principal, you will need to acquire an understanding of and appreciation for the culture of the school, then, use your leadership style (such as being a team leader) in order to gain the trust and respect of the staff and students. • Conduct a school climate survey of faculty, parents, and students to gauge how much of the learning process I taking place and what measures need to be incorporated insure that high quality teaching/learning is taking place for the entire school. • Create PLCs to promote high expectations among
Band directors can recieve a lot of chastisement from parents that disagree with a decision that has been made. Sometimes students ' can catch a bad attitude from unhappy parents. A band director cannot possibly please everyone. They must remain heastrong and make the wisest decision for the band as
This desire manifests itself in many ways, yet at its core is building relationships with students and teachers and then extending these relationships to families and the community. With students, I seek to be visible, greeting the students at the door and working to learn their names. When discipline is necessary, I believe that restorative correction is the best avenue to change behaviors while maintaining relationships. As teachers spend the most time with students during a typical school day, they are essential team members in improving educational outcomes and promoting an inclusive culture. I detail my strategies for working alongside teachers in the subsequent question; however, I strive to support them by creating a culture of trust, safety, training, and collaboration through professional learning communities.
In 2016 our youth and society falls victim to the music industry and its impact on how we dress, dance and act. Music is a catalyst to allow others a glimpse into our minds. Rather you write a symphony or an R&B song the music we compose is a piece of ourselves. Through the power of music we change the world and people around us, much like the musicians before our
Solution : Introduction: A budget is an estimation of particular commodity, quantity etc. It can be prepared for any number of days but generally it is prepared wither for a year or quarter... A budget may or may not become the actual outcome.
The U.S. Federal Budget covers a wide range of things that affect people in their day to day lives. It involves public education, justice and laws, and even health care. Balancing the budget and managing where that money goes is important annual job that ensures that we do the most that we can with it. The federal government should reduce the Federal Mint’s spending and the amount of money they put into the defense budget, increase spending on education and trying to repay national debt.
If students are not interested in learning, then the program wouldn’t be successful. Hopefully this will also combat the stigma associated with band programs and get more students interested in music
By enrolling in a band, members agree to the instructions and guiding references of the course. After reading the documents, students are provided with the sense of what this community will be like. The students get a look at the texts printed in the paper, which informs about how this class should proceed throughout the year and describes the upcoming music festivals that are considered as the most important events in the band. Each syllabus is divided into multiple sections; in fact, every single part is very important in the process of achieving group’s purpose. Many teachers put assignment descriptions in the syllabus, and a band director is no different.
A teacher that provides students with a well-organized and structured classroom are known to boost students to become better learners and motivators (Schiefele, 2017). The school itself is colorful
Budgeting can be defined as a solid process to decide the estimate of revenue and expenditure for the specific time period. This definition of budget serves for all, country, city, state, business or personal matter. It is observed that, each successful company never moves forwards without deploying budget process (Al-Shawabikah, 2000). So, talking about Personnel Budgeting, it is one of the crucial aspects of any business to keep labor or personnel budgeting in the mind at the start and end of the year to maintain or increase productivity and profitability of the business.
Musical callbacks and using music to create a mood in your classroom are still the only reasons I can think of (while being devil’s advocate) that music would be important to, for example, a science teacher. As a future educator and as a student who appreciates music as an art form but also as a facilitator, I can see that music generally helps increase test scores, retention rates, and other easily trackable successes in a student’s career. But this article generally skips right over HOW to include it and barely touches on WHY to include music in your classroom. In addition, the pseudo-acronym “PROPEL” doesn’t make sense; it should be “PROPER”. Now, I know that Aaron himself didn't come up with that philosophy and that it is based as far back as Piaget's findings, but as a music educator he should notice the flaws in the name of the philosophy he is advocating for and just mention
Arts are important in cultures and societies across the globe. In the article “The Norwegian municipal music and art schools in the light of community music”, author Anders Rønningen states ”MMAS [Municipal Music Art Schools] hold an important function in Norwegian society, providing music and arts lessons on a weekly basis for some 103,000 kids, or approximately 15 per cent of all children in primary and lower secondary schools” (Rønningen). Arts are a way that students can connect with their community in a way that other subjects can not. Some of the stated goals of the MMAS discussed in the article were “Using art and culture as a basis for quality of life, fellowship, participation, formation and meaning,” to “Strengthen formative environment and belonging through art and culture,” and “Using the arts in public space and in a community context” (Rønningen).
I do agree with Barth that culture norms are very important to change the culture of a school and replace the old culture that has a bad impact on the educational attainment of a school with healthy cultural norms. When I was in middle school, my school was strict and we had to follow many rules that I frankly believe they affected the school achievement. For example, students in my school and in Saudi generally have formal relationships with their teachers and use formal titles when addressing them. We were not allowed to talk about anything outside the course of study. Mostly, schools do not have a variety of extracurricular activities, if any at all.
