The WIDA ELD Standards Framework is an essential tool for teaching and measuring
English language learning and growth. I agree with their mission statement that says, “WIDA advances academic language development and academic achievement for children and youth who are culturally and linguistically diverse through high quality standards, assessments, research, and professional learning for educators.” This statement resonates with me because it helps the educator keep the student and child at the center of teaching so that the student can progress and grow. I believe this is essential to a learning environment and to every individual student because they all need to be given the opportunity to learn English and be successful at it. This means that all teachers need to be on board and helping their students constantly. It is incredible to witness language learners succeed so quickly when there are teachers and administrators who support them whole heartedly all the time. I agree that WIDA standards are for supporting high-quality education, especially for multilingual learners. Educators can achieve this by setting high expectations for all students in the classroom and for providing the learners with access to high-level grade content and scaffolding. The 2020 edition makes content and language more explicit and specific as it works to help language learning and academic learning. They outline this by using the term, multimodality, which means that communication is occurring in multiple ways for the students to access and engage in all their other content areas. This helps the student to make meaning between and across all content areas. The stakeholders are essential in coordinating and
