Effective Leader Essay The Islands of Hawaii were found many years ago, but unified not to long ago. The beautiful Hawaiian Islands were battle stages between many wise chiefs and cultural gods and demigods. Kamehameha was one of the most important leaders of Hawaii because he was the first chief to gather all 8 Islands under his leadership. Kamehameha, the nephew of the great chief Kalani’opu’u, was smart person because of his battle strategies, being taught by his trainer Keku’hau’pi’o. He made a new kapu called the law of the “Splintered Paddle” for his people. He had to make a kapu like that because he wanted to stop robbery and murder. It remained the same after unification also today. The law of the “Splintered Paddle” stayed in hawaii to remind people not to commit murder or do robbery.
Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was very trustworthy to his fellow chiefs and foreigners. He was trustworthy enough to not kill his fellow foreigners. He gave lots of land to his fellow chiefs in order to protect his people, he also kept chiefs loyal and gave them their ahupua’a. It remained the same after unification because foreigners owned parts of land in Hawaii and aren’t dead. His fellow chiefs still kept Hawaii safe also the people of Hawaii.
Kamehameha was an effective leader because he made a profitable trade, he cared for his people, and he was trustworthy. He was able to achieve loyalty,respect, and mana. Therefore, Kamehameha was the most powerful man in Hawaii. Today Hawaii is still as beautiful and is still safe from war, which could not compare to if he did not unify the Islands because Hawaii would still have war and hatred under chiefs in Hawaii.
