In John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath the theme of comparing the rich and poor occurs consistently throughout the book. On page 266 when Casy spoke about the rich man with a million acres, he made a statement about even though he owns so much land and has so much money, he may feel poor inside. Steinbeck uses repetition by restating the word “poor” many times allowing the reader to comprehend how the word ‘poor” means more than just the lack of money. He also compares the rich man and Mrs. Wilson. The man being who everyone desired, rich and owning a lot of land.

The transition from high school can be very difficult. Going from knowing everything about a school, its programs as well as surroundings to not knowing anything basically is a huge change. Meeting new friends and connections in the area could be the most difficult of all. One of the most important things that I have learned since being here is finding you "niche" here at the University. Being successful in class and also out of class is the main objective in college.

High school is one of the greatest pivotal times in a human's life. It is where young adults are able to form their own opinions on the world, find activities they are passionate about, and learn to create fruitful relationships with their peers and teachers. However, I did not initially view high school as a period of time for growth and development. Instead, I saw it simply as another task to complete before I entered the real world. I did not take advantage of all the opportunities around me and I began to find school to be institutionalized or meaningless.
Transitioning from high school to Middle College requires a surplus of mental strength. In order to successfully transition to Middle College I had stop relying on others and become independent. As a freshman the transition was some what difficult for me. These are somethings I think would be good to new for the middle schoolers that are tranistioning into highschool. First keep organized. I can 't stress that enough because if you don 't you will lose things really easy and become a real mess. Another thing is a personal opinion but I don 't think that going to your locker every passing period is a good idea.
Incoming freshman or 9th graders, commence out worried about the transition from midde to High School for various reasons. It is beneficial for 9th graders to stay seperated from the High School Community because it will give the freshman’s an opportunity for help and suggestions on how to manage High School Life. Dividing the 9th graders from the High Schoolers, will provide many advantages for not only the counselors but for the counselors as well. For example, in the first week of school, counselor’s are pressured with multitude of schedule changes, especially from freshmans.
The day before school high school would officially start, our Freshman Link Crew Orientation took place. We spent the day meeting upperclassmen, familiarizing ourselves with our schedules and the layout of the building, learning the Waddaly Atcha dance with Mr. Koishal, and playing team building games. Thanks to orientation, which had left a lasting and positive impression on us, we were more prepared for our first day of high school. The first day of high school, a momentous stepping stone, began the last phase of our journey together. After spending four years in middle school, many of us were ready for the freedom high school brought; however, we were not entirely expecting the high standards that high school holds.
For many adolescents entering middle school is an overwhelming and anxious experience. Everyone goes to school, everyone has homework. Homework has been a topic of interest for a very long time. Many students think that homework is not beneficial. However, without homework people wouldn’t remember what they learned in class. Homework gives kids the chance to prove what they have learned.
The past four years of my life hold both my highest of highs and my lowest of lows. High school can be a very awkward time period in a person’s life. Four years ago, I made the intimidating switch from St. Mary’s School to Algoma High School. There were certain aspects of high school which made me nervous, but academics was not one of them. I learned how to be a responsible student in my earlier years, and school had always come relatively easy to me.
My first day of high school as a freshmen in a new level of education Is what I was thinking when I woke from slumber that morning in bed. Stepping foot on the campus wasn’t even the beginning, taking the school bus in the morning is where the first taste of being a freshmen and actually starting and being an high school student. I started to get really nervous and a sense of reality hit me. Walking towards the bus stop all I see is a huge group of high school students waiting around for the bus, calm and cool as I try to stay to be I approach the waiting area not knowing what to I’m getting into.
