I think the objectives set forth in Healthy People are a step in the right direction. They set goals that may not always be reached 100% but they are realistic and attainable. They always show improvement in areas that need work. However, there are some discrepancies that definitely stop the progress that Healthy People has set forth.
If you suspect abuse you must record what has lead to this suspicion, find out any information you can in order to help determine if this is the truth, you must inform other carers, your manager, the individuals care manager and the relevant authorities to ensure that this suspicion to be investigated as soon as possible. For example, an individual I care for with learning disabilities and epilepsy made a phone call to the organisation I work in around 10pm and informed me that she was going out, as it is her right to chose when and where she goes I could not tell her she could not do so, instead I asked where she was going, she informed me she was going to a party at a friends house, I then tried to obtain information about where her friends
Healthy People 2020 recently adopted a new adolescent health objective. This objective encompasses the needs of the Campbelltown community holistically. Adolescent Health (2016) explains that public health and social problems such as smoking, substance abuse, suicide and obesity can begin at this critical developmental stage. Throughout the United States, several programs have been developed such as substance abuse interventions and mental health resources, among others (Adolescent Health, 2016). The community of Campbelltown could benefit from this model of program when it comes to health promotion and disease prevention.
Every 10 years the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issues a comprehensive document of goals and objectives to provide information and guidance to organizations and agencies addressing public health issues. The newest report, Healthy People 2020, established several new objectives to broaden thinking about populations in need. For example, some of these new objectives specifically focus on the health of the adolescent and lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender populations (Chicago Department of Public Health [CDPH], 2011). These objectives were not included in the Healthy People 2010 report. Technology has also played a part in the overwhelming size of the Healthy People 2020 report, in that the online format is
Many people are supported in their homes by people who work along side the health and social care service such as social workers, nursers ,doctor and care givers or they may get support from their family members and friends. An elderly person may choose to stay in their own homes instead of a residential care home while seeking help and support from others, however this can lead to potential opportunities for abuse happening to the person who Is being looked after. When an individual is getting support at home by a carer, the individual being cared for is vulnerable and defenseless and therefor this makes them a target for abuse, another example is abuse by strangers, when an elderly person lives alone they are at risk of people calling at the door and then gaining access to their homes, they may steal items from them or mistreat them or cause intimidation. A person who is vulnerable and living alone are at risk of physical and sexual because there is no one there to stop this abuse from happening.
A society in which all people live long, healthy lives is the vision that Healthy People 2020 has set for themselves. Healthy People 2020 was developed under the leadership of the Federal Interagency Workgroup (FIW). Healthy People 2020 is the framework of an exhaustive collaborative process among the U.S. Department of Health and Human services (HHS) and other federal agencies, public stakeholders, and the advisory committee. Healthy People 2020 provides specific and important areas of emphasis where action must take place in the United States to achieve better health by the year 2020.

WRAP: Wellness Recovery Action Plan The Recovery Model is a developed approach in helping patients with mental illness. Before the advent of various Recovery Model, there wasn’t much available to treatment or modalities when it came to helping patients recover from mental disorder, apart from the traditional medical approach. The medical approach was very focused on the treatment of the symptoms exhibited by the mentally ill person, rather than the whole person. Having roots in substance-abuse treatment programs, the Recovery Model, more specifically, the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), focuses on healing the patient holistically, educating them the coping skills as well as other techniques to help them deal with everyday stress that
Since 1993, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) measures quality of life in various research and program planning activities. They look at four core questions known as “Healthy Days Measures,” that are useful for determining the health-related quality of a patient’s life following a medial event. In contrast, a number of studies cited below found other instruments more useful than the CDC measure. Information on the CDC measure helped establish my finding that measuring quality of life for trauma patients following trauma center discharge is needed.
The wellness of a human being has been broken down into five sections. These sections are: emotional wellness, intellectual wellness, physical wellness, social wellness and spiritual wellness. I think my strongest section for my personal wellness is my emotion, intellect and physical wellness. However, my weakest sections are social wellness and spiritual wellness. I believe that my emotional wellness is my strongest section.
A little bit about myself and my career goals are that I am a Marketing Major and aspire to be in the digital marketing/advertising world. I would love to work for a small company and be completely in charge of the social media accounts. The internet and social media is what keeps a business going now a-days, especially startup companies, that’s how they get established is through their social media and website. I choose to interview Brandon Smith, the person who started Priority Health & Fitness. I choose to interview Mr. Smith because he runs a small business in the health industry and I wanted to see how he marketed his company to get where the business is now.
During our first fitness gram assessment, I made a goal to run three times a week and prepare to complete a 5K. Not only did stick to this goal, but I also just finished my third 5K in eighth place of my age division. I would never have done this if it weren't for the goal setting that I did at the beginning of the school year. I also learned the importance of hydration, sleeping and eating, especially during times when when I'm more active than

When exploring what is health, it looks at the idea of an individual being free from illness or injuries (World Health Organization 1948). WHO further explains that it is the state of complete: physical, mental, and social well-being and not the absence of disease or infirmity (health context, 2018) In 1986 during Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, WHO said health is a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living, also is a positive concept emphasizing social, personal resources, and physical capacities. There are different aspects that contribute and impact a person’s health such as their: family and friends, education or job, body, spirit and mind, and all these need to balance to ensure good health (health context, 2018).
In order to be physically, mentally/intellectual and socially/intrapersonal well and healthy, we must processed some of these traits: First is physically healthy. How can someone be physically fit? Well ofc, you must recognize the need for physical activity. Optimal wellness is met through the combination of good exercise and good eating habits. Us people, have the belief that it is better to consume foods and beverages that enhance good health rather than those which impair it.
