When I hear the word plagiarism, immediately I began to think of taking someone’s work and passing it off as your own. If there were no rules for the conduct of ethical research and no software to detect plagiarism there will be no true way to detect ownership. Misrepresentation of credentials, fabrication, and falsification would be at an all time high and there is no way to decipher authenticity. Our society will be faced with total chaos and it will be detrimental to our society. Moreover, I agree there should be rules and software in place to detect this from happening. In a professional setting, plagiarism refers to idea development. Whether you are presenting at a conference, conducting a research study, creating a menu, or designing a website, it is necessary to accurately cite original authorship. The person who worked countless hours and a great deal should receive the credit that is due to them. Avoiding crediting the source, in my opinion, is considered immoral and is truly unethical.
Ethical considerations are paramount in research, many professional associations as well as agencies have adopted specific codes rules, and policies relating to research and ethics. These codes address issues such as honesty, objectivity, respect for intellectual property, social responsibility, confidentiality, non-discrimination and many others. These codes and policies provide basic guidelines, but researchers will still be faced with additional issues that are not specifically addressed and this will require decision-making on the part of the researcher in order to avoid
