Even though Skinner’s theory influences current practice there are also other theorists that have influenced practice relating to practice. Jerome Bruner created the theory of Scaffolding and cognitive growth. He believed in the importance of the environment and social and cultural factors in order to help a child’s learning and development. He also believed that children are active problem solvers and they are able to explore difficult areas with help of practitioners. Bruner’s theory links in closely with Vygotsky’s theory as they both stress about the importance of involving the partnership of parents in order to develop a child’s learning further.

Developmental theories are different from integrated theories because they focus on individual development (Bohm & Vogel, 2011). Developmental theorists believe that certain factors in a person’s life will lead them to commit crime at different points in their life, regardless of their upbringing. As a child, coming from a family with strong morals and values, they will have the strong upbringing that will more than likely keep them from delinquency. As a person grows from a child to adolescence, peers play a major factor in if a person chooses delinquency and even drug use. As a person grows into adulthood, their livelihood and relationship with a significant other are contributing factors in determining if a person chooses to act in delinquent ways.
Introduction Developmental psychology makes an attempt to comprehend the types and sources of advancement in children’s cognitive, social, and language acquisition skills. The pioneering work done by early child development theorists has had a significant influence on the field of psychology as we know it today. The child development theories put forward by both Jean Piaget and Erik Erikson have had substantial impacts on contemporary child psychology, early childhood education, and play therapy. In this essay, I aim to highlight the contribution of these two theorists in their study of various developmental stages, the differences and similarities in their theories, and their contributions to the theory and practice of play therapy.
It starts with infancy and continues to adulthood. By gaining knowledge about child development, a synopsis of what children can do at various ages can be formed. Following are the three theoretical perspectives of child development: i. Maturationist’s View of Child Development : Maturationism is a premature childhood educational philosophy emphasizing the child as a growing individual in which knowledge exists. Based on Arnold Gessell’s work, maturationists suggest that “genetic factors play a bigger role in development than environmental ones” [8].

Piaget 's Cognitive development theory led to a great deal of research work in the field of educational philosophy . But in the discipline of Psychology, every theory has been faced with a counter theory or an alternative. So is the case with Piaget 's theory. Lev Vygotsky, a soviet psychologist came up with the socio-cultural theory, which is another strong theory emphasizing child development and is seen as a major counter theory to Piaget 's work (Saul McLeod, 2004).
In my essay I shall be discussing two educational theorist’s that involve an in-depth study and comparison of the two educational theorists. The two educational theorists I have studied in order to complete this essay is a German educational theorist called Frederick Froebel and an Italian educational theorists called Maria Montessori. I shall be discussing these two educational theorists in the context of their philosophy, their contribution to early childhood education in terms of their approach and their contribution to early childhood education in terms of their implementation. The Frederick Froebel backstory is that he was born in seventeenth eighty-two in a small town called Oberwerssbach in Thuringian nowadays known as Germany.

This will involve an in-depth evaluation and comparison of the two theorists under the following headings their philosophies, their contribution to early childhood education in terms of their approach and implementation and my personal thoughts on their approaches to helping the development of young children but also in educating young children.
