The Guatemalan civil war is known to be the longest and most deadly war of Latin America. It was a 36-year-long battle between the Guatemalan Government and Guatemalan rebels, in which many people were tortured, raped, left homeless, and killed. The cause of such an event was because people were tired of the government oppression, robbery, and injustice. Even though the war did not start until 1960, to really understand what really started such a tragic event, it is necessary to start from 1954. In 1954, President Jacobo Arbenz was elected by people but he was also a communist, which the United States of America was not very happy about. And since they had a lot of money invested in Guatemala, a rebellion was formed with the help of the U.S.
