Causes of the Russian Revolution Thomas S
In July 1917, Tsar Nicolas II was assassinated. This started the Russian revolution that industrialized Russia. But what led up to this and why? Nicolas II became ruler in 1894. He was unprepared and untrained as a ruler. As well as this, Alexander III left him with his failed industrialization. At the start of WWI, Nicolas decided to take control of the army, leaving for the front lines. Because of this, many farmers and in land workers lost their food and supplies to the army. Some minor changes of him are the ban of Vodka and the renaming of the capitol city.

‘it is so dull without you’ Another interesting point this brings up, is that it shows how Rasputin managed to get the royal family to believe that he can let God do anything he wants. This shows that Rasputin was able to control the royal family and therefore Russia because of the way he manipulates the family to need him as a friend. An example of this is the phrase ‘I kiss your holy hand’. This phrase shows that to the royal family, Rasputin is of higher rank than them. This may be because of the way they think that the tsar was chosen by god and Rasputin has a strong connection to him.

Another source, talks about the Russians on the front line. It talks about the lack of supplies at the front. The interesting thing it brings up is that the Russian army was underequipped and therefore not prepared for battle. This would be because Russia mobilized quickly giving it no time to prepare carefully and the tsar took over the army without knowledge and skills on that territory.
