One question many American's ask is what has social media done to families today in life. While kids are now getting cell phones at younger and younger ages, the distance between kids and their parents and rest of their family has grown. The more phones advance the more people spend time on them and less time with their families.
Phones have advanced a lot over the years. This brought the advancements of social media along with it. We started out with this website called Myspace. Myspace was a social media page where you got to post things and interact with a variety of different people. Some of those people you may have know and some you knew nothing about. Once this happened the social media race took off, and again less time was spent with families and more time on social media. With phones having the access of these apps, people were constantly on their phones. This lead to people being addiction to being on their phones. People have gotten to the point where they may not say anything with their mouth to their family, but yet they use their fingers and text their families.
It has gotten to the point where with social media and the new phones take over in people's lives to the point where they end up getting divorces. Like couples will be laying in bed together and hardly say anything at all to each other. They are more focused on what is happening with other people and what is going on with their friends and family, instead of focusing on each other and talking face to face.
Now, on the other hand, having the advancement of social media has helped some people in the end to. It helps people get connected with people all over the world. It also helps them get together and talking to old friends they may have lost and it may also help some families more with them living so far apart. Social media has helped me keep up with all my friends and family from here in Arkansas while they are in Mississippi. Some people see the good in it and others see the bad. Other people can see both, the good and the bad. Why has so many people fallen victim to social media in this time period that we live in? My answer to that question is simple. Social media is just so easily accessed. You can get it on pretty much any phone that you get now. Even younger kids are starting to get addicted to social media and everything is becoming more and more less family oriented.
My family has even fallen victim to this social media outbreak. We have even become more and more distant over the years with the advancement of phones and social media. This has caused more arguments in the end and has put us is some bad situations. This is one epidemic that I think can only be helped by the families that are involved and affected by all this.
